I need help (especially those of you who received grants for IVF)
I just spoke to Jackie at LI IVF about starting monitoring for a natural cycle- since I cannot do meds until the cysts go down. She put a note in to Dr. K at the other office, and he told her to tell me not to do monitoring for a natural cycle, and that I would be a good candidate for IVF, and to set up an appointment with me to discuss it with him.
I guess he thinks the IUI with injectibles is a waste of my time? I don't really know. My appointment isn't until November 3rd.
Anyway- I guess I need to start looking up grants- because IVF is the one thing my insurance does not cover. Can anyone help me with this? I am already confused and overwhelmed.

You have PCOS correct? That would not make you a candidate for a natural cycle because you don't ovulate on your own. The point of a natural cycle is to monitor the progress of the growth of a follicle and time an IUI with the release of that follicle/egg.
You would be a good candidate for IVF however, since you have PCOS and would produce a lot of eggs. Then they can transfer the eggs (either fresh or frozen) to give you a better chance of getting PG.
As far as grants, I know nothing.....my insurance covers IVF.

Re: I need help (especially those of you who received grants for IVF)
You need to call Gail. She is the grant coordinator. She will send you the packet of information with the application. If you are approved, it's a very fast process.
So long as they still have funds available for the grant, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be approved.
The cost of the cycle is based on a sliding scale. You'll need to get your 2007 tax returns together b/c they'll need those to base your share on.

I just did a cycle with LI IVF with the grant. Just call them and they will put you in touch with Gail. She is super nice.
You need to have normal FSH, some failed IUIs and make less then 195k. The grant is really helpful. GL!

definately give your RE a call bc the grant money is tight. NSUH was being withheld money from the state on the grant but it was just re-instated 2 weeks ago. We were fortunate enough to get in but I am not sure what the status of it is now...

Re: I need help (especially those of you who received grants for IVF)
Thanks girls. I guess I should call today and find out if I can even do a cycle or if it's too late, and if he is gonna want me to go straight to IVF, that way I can get the grant.
