Re: I need help- I know nothing about dogs!
How could you say that tea cups = defects? My friend has a 3.5lb chihuahua named Bella and she is perfect. He takes her to the vet each month to get her nails clipped, and a general checkup and she is very healthy. The only concern is her weight. She has to stay around 3.5 to 3.9lbs in weight. She eats and drinks very little every day. She is adorable and so full of life. She is considered a Tea Cup Chi. Even though there really is no such thing as a tea cup.
My other friend had a tea cup Yorkie....and the dog whos name is also Bella has grown up and is a very healthy dog, even though she is a small version of the Yorkie.
You really cannot say that a Teacup automatically means there is something wrong with the dog or that the dog has a defect.

[" Anything that is "Tea Cup" is more likely to have health issues.
i think this is important... "MORE likely", not definitely.. and i beleive its true. we just bought my mom a yorkie for christmas, and the breeder we went does not even breed "tea cups" because of all the potential health problems. Just think about it- how small do their organs have to be to fit in those tiny bodies? that can't be good. i don't think it automatically means that tea cups= health problems, but they are definitely more likely...

There are so many points to consider when picking a breed. Definitely do research.
Jack Russell Terriers-great dog. very easy to train and always wants to learn. Needs a tremendous amount of exercise, if neglected, could be a trouble maker.
Pugs-cute little handsome dogs. very friendly, but snores and often develops breathing problems.
Maltese-very obedient, but yappy.
Pomeranian-(I'm a bit partial since I have one) but very yappy, barks at EVERYTHING. has lots of energy but does not require an excessive amount of exercise. Very quick to learn but can easily form bad habbits hard to break.
Never buy a pure breed from a store. Always ask the breeder you are interested for a minimum of 5 referrals-call them!
