I need help in finding my yorkie a home

It's just too much for me to handle with the baby and all. He's a great dog and I've had him for 1 11/2 but I feel bad that I can't devote the time to him now that I have a newborn. Where do I start to find him a new home?

Chat Icon My sister went through the same thing when she had my nephew. She gave her dog to someone in the family, but after about 2 weeks she missed him so much she asked for him back. She realized that he was such a good dog and will adjust himself to having a baby in the house and not getting that much attention for a little while. I would wait, it is going to be hard but I think it's worth it. The baby will grow up with that dog and love him as much as you do. Don't worry, it will get better. Good Luck!!!

What is it about him that is challenging? Is it that he needs a lot of attention? Chat Icon Chat Icon

I completely agree. Please try and wait it out. I know having a new baby takes a lot of adjusting, but it does get easier. It will be really great for the two of them to grow up together. A dog should be a lifetime commitment and becomes part of the family. I would try everything to try to make it work out before giving up.

Don't give him up. Especially at his age. HE would be more UPSET about going somewhere else and that you don't want him anymore then about the lack of attention he is getting.

He is not dangerous. Don't just get rid of him. Chat Icon

Spend sometime with him when your DD goes to bed.

If you really need a home for him please let me know as we are considering getting another and my MIL is interested in getting one too. We could provide a loving very loving home to your yorkie and he would even have a yorkie brother.

I had a baby too and you should see how amazing she is with her now that she is 2 years old.

Please give it some time, is all a matter of adjusting and compromising.

You are not alone, if you need any tips we are here to help.

Good luck Chat Icon

Mine is in my avatar. I wish I had 2!!!

I say try to keep the dog. Is there someone who can help entertain the dog, just to give it some extra attention? Maybe a friend can just come over to walk the dog once in a while. A little goes a long way with a dog!!!!!!
