Re: I need recommendations for hotels in Italy
How many stars are you looking for?
We have been to Venice and Florence on our HM. In Venice, we stayed in a really fancy hotel, probably not something you want to spend the money on unless going on a HM trip. I know that was the only reason we splurged like that.
However, in Florence, we stayed in a three star hotel right by the Ponte Veccio, and I absolutely loved it! I will look up the name, if you are interested.

We are going this year and have booked these hotels: Venice: Acca Hotel-near Rialto Bridge Florence-Hotel Caravaggio-in San Lorenzo Rome-Teatropace33-in Piazza Navona
Obviously we haven't stayed at them yet, but I am kind of obsessive when it comes to trip planning and did extensive research on so many hotels in all three (tripadvisor.com is the best!). They were all around $150/or less on Expedia, Venere, and Travelocity. I based the choice on location being the most important thing. I went to Italy 5 years ago and we stayed outside of the cities and it was a pain to get in everyday. They are not over the top fancy, but nice, clean and came highly rated! Let me know if you need more info...
Thank you so much, I will look into them.

Re: I need recommendations for hotels in Italy
I have only been to Venice and Florence and we stayed in these small little Pensions... I was backpacking right after college. Tehy are inexpensive, but have a lot of character. Try buying a travel book-- I bet they will have great recommendations.

Sorry, I didn't mean to ignore, just haven't had a chance to go back to my old files and look it up. Here is where we stayed.
