I NEED serious Christening party help....

I am losing it over this party.

We are on such a tight budget!

Even the Buffet places are close to $20 PP and I cannot do that much.

I cannot find ANY phone numbers for VFW's, KOC's etc...

Where do I find #'s for those types of places?

Does anyone have prices/phone numbers for any of those types of halls around the lindenhurst/deer park/babylon/farmingdale/wantagh areas?

I figure it would be cheapest to cater oursleves.

THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH for any help!

Re: I NEED serious Christening party help....

I hear you.

We finally gave up on the caterers and decided to do it ourselves at the IL's house.

It's MUCH more work for me, but I couldn't justify the $30 pp I was getting for a in-house catering.

Do you have a house you can have it at or is the guest list too big?

We're only having 35 people.

Re: I NEED serious Christening party help....

I know you said you don't have a house to do it in, but ask around with any of your friends who live in complexes, they might have a party room that's available to rent for cheap.

We rented out a hall for $350 in East Northport, catered it through a friend for my sister's 40th birthday.

Also if it's giving you this much stress, I would make it immediate family & go out to dinner. Put the rest of the money you were going to spend in a savings account for him.

There's a small VFW on 110 in Amityville and I hear it's very reasonably priced. It's just South of the [former]hospital. Let me see if I can find the number for you...

What about the church where you are having it - do they have a space you can use?

Thanks, this is an idea if we cant figure a place out soon.

Its just that I have limited time to make phone calls etc and when your bargain hunting, it takes time.

Im two minutes from just dinner for immediate family.

The reason we want a party is DH's family is large and VERY into parties for these types of events.

Thanks soo much for the info!

Off the top of my head:

Seaford Memorarie club

Bellmore KofC

Wantagh American Legion

There is one of these places near the train station in Massapequa. In the shopping center across Broadway from Bridal Reflections.

Also, have you asked at your church if they have a room that you can use?

Re: I NEED serious Christening party help....

Hi, we looked into the Lindy VFW & found it to be comparable $wise to some restaurants.

It was $500 for hall rental (includes 2 bartenders & clean-up)

$10 for open bar
$7 for beer/wine/soda
$5 for soda (those under 21)

$75 for e/ waitress

To have them cater though it was some crazy amount

They had 2 rooms

Not sure if this is too far for you but I had my sister's shower at Butterfields in Hauppauge-$18 pp with the cake included and it was really nice! Its huge too
I would check out a deli if you really want to cater-some opf them are really good and teh prices are pretty reasonable. mama Sbarro's has pretty good catering prices.

Re: I NEED serious Christening party help....

I am having DS's christening catered
from a deli out by me in Port Jeff.. I am sure they would go out to you though to have it catered!
It is only $6.95/PP and it includes a hot/cold buffet with hero's chx marsala ziti... there are LOTS of food choices..
and it comes with salads & rolls......
there is a 40 person min but still it really works out to be cheaper than cooking for yourself..
Let me know if you want me to FM you the info...

I just wanted to let you know that Bertuccis on 110 also has very inexpensive catering and a private room starting at $10 a person I believe.

Its $15 pp not including tax and gratuity for just pizza. It becomes over $20 pp for anything over pizza with tax and gratuity...
