I need some help for a family member....
a close family member was in an accident last week. He had a body scan to check for internal injuries, and the Drs found a spot on his lung & an affected lymph node. The Drs originally called in an oncology team, but since then they have "determined" (with no further testing) that it is pneumonia. They put him on oxygen and antibiotics.
I am afraid that they called of the oncology team b/c he has no insurance. His no-fault is paying for the injuries that were a result of the accident, but he has no coverage to pay for any further tests, treatments, etc. I know they are not allowed to deny him care, but it sounds fishy to me.
I tried to contact the ACS, CTCA, and Sloane-Kettering resources. I have heard nothing.
Does anyone have any advice or information for a resource that might be able to help?
TIA.....

I don't have any additional information, but it is completely illegal for them to call it off because of ability to pay. If he's concerned, i would go to another doctor for a second opinion. While they may not have even called it off because of that, if he questions their diagnosis in ANY way, he should definitely seek out another opinion.
Prayers for him that it is just pneumonia though

Thank you for responding neenie I did tell him this, and he wants a second opinion. He is stuck in the hospital for at least another week though b/c they had to do reconstructive surgery. He is very nervous about waiting until he is released, and the hospital is insisting that he does not need further testing
