I need to address my hair problem - help!

I decided after the last time I got JHS that it was going to be my last time. I didn't like what it was doing to my hair and I missed the volume my hair used to have.

Now its about 18 months later and I have a terrible ridge in my hair where the JHS meets my natural hair. It looks like I had my hair in a ponytail and took it out. If I blow dry and flat iron it you don't see it - but I don't have time for that every day with a new baby at home.

So I am in a quandry - what to do? Do I do brazilian? (Is that permanent or does it wear off?) Or investigate the jhs "perm" (I would looove wavy hair) - or just let it be?

18 months later it's not long enough for you to cut it off at the ridge?

I am not thrilled with my JHS anymore myself

I had a lot of broken hairs that are growing back in

I am going to try BKT next time and see if that helps

I'm pretty sure the digital perm is still the same process as JHS, they just straighten the top portion and use curlers to curl the ends/length of your hair. You probably won't have any volume at your roots.

What is the brazillian thing ? Doesn't it wash out eventually?

I'd do that -

That whole Japanese thing is was too permanent for me - I'm such a chicken !!

I would probably say go for the brazillian. I had it done but I'm not too thrilled with it. It doesn't give you a wash and go result but I guess its better for your hair.

Re: I need to address my hair problem - help!

I just cut off the last of my jhs after about 2.5 years (last time i had it done was july 2007). My hair was really long, and I still wasn't really ready to cut that much off, but i just did it. my hair is still long by normal standards, but i want it longer! I also dont know what to do next. i can keep it curly and blow it out when i want, but i was unhappy with my hair that way my entire life, so it's not really any different now. but i dont want to go throw the growing out process again, and when i cut it all off, i got highlights, so I shouldnt do jhs on top of that anyway. i want to go for a consult with a great hairstylist to know specific options for my hair...

My hair is prob a few inches below the neck it hits the top middle of my back so not short but not ultra long either...I HATED the brazillian, yes it made it easier for me to blow dry,BUT I don't have time to blow dry with a baby at all...I always always wear my hair with volume and waves at the end even when I get it blown I have it blown that way, so I'm hoping this will be good...btw the last time I had JHS after a few months if I put a curling iron to the hair it would hold the curl so I would add some volume that way...

I'm getting it done sunday and if I don't hate it I'll take pics and post it Chat Icon
