I picked a fight last night.....
I was angry with my boyfriend over other things...actually I am angry that I'm about to turn 27, we've been together 2 1/2 years, granted there was a 2 month breakup in there, and there isn't the slightest head fake towards engagement....
I guess I just feel like I'm ready....and I'm sad that he's not....I think the upcoming birthday is just magnifying it....
So, I did the mature thing, I picked a huge fight over him finishing work at at 4pm, yet not coming over until 6:30/7. Nice right.

I'm sorry. I agree. If you are in the point in your life where you are thinking about marriage and family, the only thing to do is ask him if he sees the same future as you. If not, he may not be the person for you. But, if he does, he's just not quite ready at this very moment, then you can just wait until he is ready. After all, you don't want to force him into something he is not ready for.

I know you guys are right....I'm trying my best to live in the moment and enjoy the summer...we've danced around the conversation...and he does want the same things just not yet....stupid boys...

hang in there. I think i'd sit him down and try to find out WHY he's so scared to move forward. How is his job situation? could he be worried about providing for you? are his parents married? does he even WANT children? (Of course, I'm not asking you to answer these here...just pointing out some things.)
lol - and if you're trying to talk - beer and/or brownies as bribery sometimes helps.

men! sometimes I wonder what the heck goes on in their minds  for us women... when we know, we know! you know?  but not them. they have to roll it around for years!

Exactly 15 minutes into 2002 I turned to DH (then my boyfriend) and said "you told me we'd get engaged last year!" Seriously, I was trying so hard to resist the urge to just scream "where's my ring!!!!" when the ball dropped that New Year's.  Six months later we got engaged, but I know what it's like when you're *there* and he's just not quite there yet.
