I have a question- I will be 38 6 days after I give birth and Im wondering why do the CVS over an amnio? I had an amnio. Just curious.
That is actually a really good question. I really never heard of CVS until I moved to Los Angeles. The doctor who pioneered CVS as a procedure is at Cedars Sinai in Beverly Hills. Everyone I know out here who wants to do some type of genetic testing during pregnancy goes to Dr. Williams for a CVS over an amino. His miscarriage rate is very low and the risks are much smaller since he has done the procedure so many times and over so many years. Plus the only reason that the risks of amnio are lower is that it is given later in pregnancy(when the risk of miscarriage goes down as well) and because CVS is not done as often as amnios. Honestly, the peace of mind I got my last pregnancy at 12 weeks was amazing. I am so glad I don't have to wait to due an amnio.
