I think it's in poor taste and disrespectful considering the situation and obviously the page it is on. I'm not sure if it really was an oversight or if this was a statement. If it was in fact a statement it was a poor place and time to make it, but freedom of the press and free speech give them a right to do so wether its a mistake or oversight or a planned statement . But, who really knows if it was an oversight or not. That being said, I don't see what one would stand to gain by posting and making a stink about it. If heads are going to roll, I'm sure it's happening by now.

I have to believe it was an oversight. Humans make mistakes and I can't imagine that they would purposefully do something like this. I'm not sure what would be gained by doing so. Yes, attention, but the wrong kind. I don't know if this is a large circulation or small, local "hometown" paper, but if it is the latter, I would be even less inclined to think the ad was placed there on purpose. There is a certain trust that these local papers build with their audience and they are careful not to damage it. Many times, these types of papers are strong advocates for their communities.
