I saw The Kite Runner and it made me cry (SPOILER ALERT)
I read the book and it became one of my favorites, so yesterday I saw the movie and it was very good, it made me cry and I don't cry that easy about movies has anyone else read or seen it?

Re: I saw The Kite Runner and it made me cry
I sobbed and sobbed at the novel and the film. I really identified with Baba's death and a lot of the Middle Eastern culture.

Re: I saw The Kite Runner and it made me cry
i really enjoyed the book and cried my eyes out but didn't get the same warm fuzzies from the movie. i think i'm that way with all books that become films though. just an issue with me i guess.

we must chat about this Erin - are you Middle Eastern??? How could I NOT know this about you?
I loved the movie and I loved the book even more...they hit very close to home for me as I'm Middle Eastern, but the pain and hardship exceed anything I've ever gone through.

I agree with you - the book (IMHO) was very powerful with the descriptions and the amount of detail - it was very easy to feel everything that was written...with the movie - I think they "revised" it for political motivations and I didn't get that same feel b/c the pain was simply not portrayed as heavily it was in the book.

I read the book and LOVED IT! I was bawling on the subway reading it. I haven't seen the movie... I usually don't care for the movie if I've read the book.

Well, kind of sort of...
My Dad was from Turkey and he died in the same exact way Baba did--Lung Cancer.
My Mom is from Belfast.
I definitely identify with Middle Eastern culture, Islamic rituals etc, though I was raised Catholic.
ETA: The funeral scene was especialy hard to bear, it really stirred up some crazy emotions.

Yes I agree the book was much better , but the movie was very good ,too, just not as good(movies based on books never are). I come from a country that was also hit by a war and many people had to escape, plus my uncle fought in Afgan war against Russia and he was never the same, when he came back .

I agree.
As a side note- I didn't realize 90% of the movie would be in subtitles...but after 10 minutes I barely noticed.

I had no idea you were Turkish (part) - I'm sure it hit home on a few occasions.
