Re: I think my dog is dying
I am so very sorry about your beloved dog. I know how you feel because I had a Lab who had the same symptoms. She had enlarged lymph nodes and was vomiting blood. The cancer had spread through her whole body. I had wanted to give her one night of peaceful sleep and was able to do that because of the medication she was given to help her. However, the next day she was worse. That was when we knew it was time. She was only 6 years old. Making your dog comfortable and keeping her happy is not cruel. It is humane and she will know how much you love her. Try to find a vet who can give you an accurate diagnosis and, if you feel it is time, I am sure you will do the right thing.
As for the posters who were so harsh and judgmental, shame on all of you. This person was looking for a kind word and you gave her criticism. I don't know if you have ever been in the position this person is in, but, I can tell you from experience (I have had to say goodbye to 4 dogs) it is excrutiatingly painful. I hope none of you ever have to experience this pain, but, if you do, I pray that others are more kind to you than you were to her.

Re: I think my dog is dying
Thank you. I was doing some research and I am pretty darn sure she has lymphoma. She has every single symptom...the thing is, it says that once they are showing all the symptoms, they only have 2 months to live?? How the heck did three vets miss this?? I just don't get it.
We're calling a new vet in the morning. Hopefully we'll get an appointment for tomorrow.
Here is a picture of Buca. Isn't she so perfect?

to all of those who felt my comments were harsh. Well here is an FYI, I sent Princess Mommy a bunch of vets in the Hartford Area. She fm''d me back thanking me and writing that she was going to call them in the am.
Please don't give me some silly speech about how rude I was.
shame on me?? I don't think so.

Wow...I totally am crying over here, she is so beautiful. I love her face...what a sweetie. I hope you get a diagnosis and make the right decision for your baby - and I truly hope she doesn't suffer, I know you will do the right thing for her.

Please bring your dog here...
Long Island Vetrinary Specialists
They will give your dog a thorough examination, and I am sure come up with some kind of diagnosis, I really cannot imagine any vet saying the a dog who is puking, and sneezing blood, and has tumors on his face has nothing wrong with them...YOUR VET has something wrong with HIM!!!!!!
My dog had lymphoma, and I brought him to this pet hospital because they had specialists there to deal with Coppers issues. They gave us all options, and they did have payment plans. I also belive they have a credit card you can get for just this reason.
Also, if you search the internet, there are different organizations that may help you to defray some of the costs of helping your baby.
PLEASE look into all of these option, your babies life IS worth it!
I agree with this rec. They are one of the tops on LI. Ask your current vet for a referral. I am sorry for what you and going through. It must be heartbreaking to watch
She doesn't live in NY though, so this vet is of no use to her.
I can only offer you some and a wish that your dog feels better and/or goes peacefully.
Sorry I could be of no use to you. Just wanted to send you some

Re: I think my dog is dying
I have called a few of the vets that reggie reccommended but so far no one can see Buca for at least 2 weeks. That seems like a long time for a dog that might be really sick. We (DH and I) spent forever on the phone with each one telling them the whole story too. Don't you think this should be classified as an emergency?
I'm calling another one now but they are out to lunch. I will keep you updated.

2 weeks??? Jeez -- my Vet sees Ebony as soon as I call even if it is nothing!
Can you go to an Emergency Care Center? And yes I would tell them it';s an emergency -- they can hold off on a few rabies vaccines to see Buca!!

I wonder why not of of those vets referred you to an emergency clinic?
Aren't all vets affiliated with at least one?

I think I might be coming to Long Island to take Buca to a certain vet that one of you reccommended in a FM. It's also my MIL's vet/hospital and she loves it there. I am not sure yet though, still on the phone calling around....

That may be your best idea, as long as Buca doesn't stress too much in the car, you will definitely get the information you need here.

If you go to the Emergency Clinic in Plainview you MUST have a Vet's referral!! They will NOT see your dog otherwise so get your vet to call first!

Is there anyone you can report those other vets too? My vet sees me immediately if I call with a concern. I cannot imagine going to a vet that didn't. The treatment you have been receiving from vets is outrageous

Re: I think my dog is dying
Okay, I was persistant, and we are going to see a specialist here in CT (thank you reggie) tomorrow at 11:00am.
This was the same place that wasn't going to squeeze Buca in until Nov. 7th! But the girl I spoke to this morning said that she thought about my dog all night and switched some stuff around to allow Buca to see the BEST of the BEST (according to her) in the morning. I feel better now.
I'll let you know what happens tomorrow.
