Re: I thought they would be excited...
I can't imagine anyone saying anything like that! Was there some reason behind her being so disapointed?
I'm sorry I don't think one person's reaction should ruin something so exciting and special. She may have had an initial poor reaction but maybe she will come around and hopefully apologize for her immature behavior.

Re: I thought they would be excited...UPDATEDwith why she doesn't want this
that is a GREAT age to have a kid....
you are married so you had chance to get use to living together, and will be on the younger side to chase the kids around...
I will be 26 when my first is due, dh 29..... he always wanted a kid before he turned 30 so he would have more energy to play sports with them, coach their teams....

So I told my family today that they were going to be grandparents, Mu aunt who was my gaurdian and raised me (basically my mother) told me that she was disappointed in me and couldn't be happy for me even though she wanted to, she couldn't. How crazy is that?? I don't know what happened to believing in me and supoorting me in anything? She was bawling on the phone about how disappointed in me and that I shouldn't have this baby.....this is so upsetting.....i think DH's family will be a little more supprtive and happy......we are wrapping the sonogram and giving it to them for christmas. I was just so hoping they would be happier for me.
UPDATE: She thinks we should have a child right now because we are too young and won't know how to care for a child. I am 25 and my DH is 28, he cried on his birthday this year because he didn't have any children yet. She just doesn't think having kids before 30 is a good things
If that's the way she thinks then she's a dumb as*

Her thinking is totally ridiculous! You're NOT a teenager!! You are a married woman!! Hopefully she'll get over this, but unfortunately she'll never be able to take her words back!

Re: I thought they would be excited...UPDATEDwith why she doesn't want this
I just read your update. Both DH and I are 33 and feeling pretty clueless about what to expect with raising this first baby. I think age does not have a whole lot to do with it, at all. And it's not like you are 16 still in h.s.

I am so sorry they are ruining your happy time. That way of thinking is ridiculous! I had DS at 26, baby #2 is coming when I am 27. So at 27 I will be the mom of 2 under 2. You are not 15...you are a married woman! Congrats on the pregnancy!!

Boy, that stinks! I'm sure you will be great parents. No matter what age----we all make mistakes with our children. It's a live and learn process. Don't let her being upset get you down!

Not only was I married at 25, but I got pregnant with DS probably right around my 26th birthday....and it was the BEST thing that I ever did and that ever happened to me an DH.
I would NOT take anything your aunt says serious...I can understand if there was a health issue or relationship problem that could get in the way but her "opinion" is ridiculous!!!

Re: I thought they would be excited...UPDATEDwith why she doesn't want this
Sounds more like she's not ready for you to have children. What counts more is that YOU are ready...and ready or not, here you come
If it makes you feel any better, my mom had us when she was 21. I love that she's a young mom, compared to my friends' parents. I also think she did an excellent job of raising us.
It may take some getting used to, but I suspect that little peanut is going to have your mom wrapped around his/her little finger - and you will show your mom age is just a number.

Re: I thought they would be excited...UPDATEDwith why she doesn't want this
I'm so sorry that she reacted that way over your age of all things! Its not like you're a baby having a baby! You're a married woman.
I'm 23 (I'll be 24 when the baby is born) and DH is 24. My mom was a little upset when we told her. Of course, in the end she's happy, but at first I constantly got the whole "are you sure. you're so young. " etc. The truth is -- YOU and DH know whats best for you. If others dont agree, then too bad. Hopefully she'll come around and realize that her opinion on this topic is quite immature and rediculous.
Dont let it get you down. You're going to be a wonderful mother.

Re: I thought they would be excited...UPDATEDwith why she doesn't want this
wow. instead of saying that she's dissapointed, she should've offered all the help possible and try to be supportive of you. i mean my God you're 25 and married, not 15 and single. she clearly doesn't see things the way they are, i would try to not let her opinions get into your mind too much. we'll be supportive for her!

Re: I thought they would be excited...UPDATEDwith why she doesn't want this
I know it seems very bizzare that she acted this way but i think there is much more to it.. Is this some how kicking up some old experience she had and she is just acting out on fear and past situations?? i dont think she can help herself.. this sounds like old wounds to me..
try not to let this hurt you or put a damper on your wonderful blessing.. instead try to see where this could be coming from..

Thoughts on your update:
Too friggin bad for her! You're not too young!!! She needs to mind her own business and keep her nasty thoughts to herself. UGH! I can't stand in-laws!!!
Ignore her and surround yourself with HAPPY, POSITIVE people who are truly excited for you. POO on her.

Im so so so sorry....
Even if you were "too young" (and IMO that isnt the case) what happened to standing beside you? Supporting you???
Hopefully DH's family will give you the overwhelming excitment you deserve!

Re: I thought they would be excited...UPDATEDwith why she doesn't want this
I'm so sorry that you dont have the support of your aunt yet. As long as you're both ready and happy, that's all that matters. DH & I are both 25 and are soo happy. I think this is the perfect age (for us) to have a baby. We have more energy now then we ever will. Don't worry hopefully she'll come around. 4u and congrats :)

Re: I thought they would be excited...UPDATEDwith why she doesn't want this
wow thats a crazy reaction to have saying your too young! I was 25 and DH was 26 when DD was born...i guess its the different areas...i live in a small town and everyone has children around this age!!! some earlier and its totally the norm! If you have no kids at 30 around here its odd!
you WILL be great parents! 25 or 35 ppl make mistakes but it dosent change that you will love your DC and do whats best for him/her!!!

WOW. And WOW after reading your update. My mom had 2 kids at 23. Granted that was 30 yrs ago. I think if you two are ready that is all that matters. Its not like you are 16. She should have kept the negative comments to herself.

WOW, what would prompt her to say something like that to you? What's the reasoning behind it? That's cruel and mean!
IMO anyone's 'reasons' for thinking that are irrelevant - There are certain things in your life that you keep to yourself ........ THAT is one of them !! -
