I would suggest (know people who have these or have had one myself):
Jeep Liberty
Jeep Cherokee
Nissan Murano
Ford Edge
Dodge Caliber (we're looking into this car for DH)
I love my Liberty and if you are looking for an 07 then you should be ok, but the 08s are bigger I think.
Oh and the Dodge Calibers are HORRIBLE. My SIL and one of DH's uncles rented them while we were on vacation in July and they both hated them.

We haven't test drove it yet... just like the look of it.
They were very small. I know my neice's car seat barely fit in the backseat and the trunk space was non-existant. Plus I think it had no pick up. I thought they looked cute too, but both of them said they were terrible.

We have an 06 Kia Sportage that we leased. we loved it so much that we are leasing an 08 in November of this year.
My father in law has an 07 Sportage and he loves it.
My friend just leased an 07 and she loves it too.
Great little truck that can haul so much stuff, it will surprise you.
Great car like ride. Awesome stereo with 6 speakers, comfortable seats and plenty of cargo space.
I dont know what else I can say - oh yeah 10 year 100k warranty.

I have the new Honda CRV and love the new design. No more tire hanging from the door. The inside was redesigned to be more spacious. Trunk is nice too. I have the AWD.

I have a Honda CRV 2007...and totally LOVE IT! Hondas are the best cars, it has good gas milege.....very roomy....and comfy! I have it in dark blue!!

From this page, you can narrow down your selection, based on size, price, options (4wheel drive), fuel (hybrid, flexfuel), ratings, MPG, 3rd row seating, towing capacity, seating capacity, etc. That should give you a nice list to start with. Then you can narrow it down from there, but at least you'll have a list of cars that meet your technical requirements.
