I wish Christmas was over...
I wish Christmas was over so that I can get my life back. I normally take a 60 min speed walk during my lunch breaks. If there is inclement weather I'll go to Roosevelt Field and walk there. Case in point, 30 minutes ago I attempted to go to Roosevelt Field. As soon as I turned into the circular drive and saw the massive traffic/cars/lack of parking I hightailed it out of there. Now I'm back at work 30 minutes early. I just can't wait for my drive home stuck on Stewart while last minutes shoppers attempt the malls. I just want my regular routine back.

But this is the opposite of festive. It's making my life miserable. The roads are packed, people are rude, and no one really seems that festive. What normally takes me 20 minutes to get home now takes 45 min because of mall traffic. Aghhhhh.....

Oh no, I will miss the music, the decoration and just feeling festive. January is just so blah when it is all over.

I'm taking it none of you have to drive by the mall to get home at night? You're very lucky.

Hey quit pickin' on Christmas and start blamin' Chanukah and Kwanza!!!
I kid, I kid... Just a feable attempt at a joke!
I understand your frustration but try not to let it bother you too much. It's really supposed to be a fun, festive, feel-good time of the year!
Well, at least it is for me...

Okay, Okay....I'll try. As I sit through the same traffic light for the fourth time tonight I'll sing something festive to cheer me up.

Traffic is a pain BUT..I get so depressed when everything is over. I love the lights, the music, the feeling of it all. I am a Christmas fanatic though. It goes too fast in my opinion!

Re: I wish Christmas was over...
The season is beautiful in terms of religious significance and family. The commercialism---the "must shop NOW," as opposed to any other time during the year, the mob mentality, greed, materialism, and people spending lots of $$ they don't have...is sad. I know lots of religious people who have eschewed the commercialism and are focused on gifts for kids and charitable contributions--more time around the dinner table, less time fighting over stuff at the mall.

But it doesn't. It makes monotony worse. Seriously, when isn't Roosevelt Field Mall a zoo on the weekend, but with Christmas it's 10x worse. And, my afternoon walk allows a break from the monotony of sitting at my desk, but because of 17 degree weather and packed stores, I'm still sitting at my desk sheltering myself from hungry shoppers who like to wait to the last minute.

bah humbug! maybe walk around smaller shops or less busy stores and enjoy the music, and pretty trees... the mall is crowded but i cant imagine its insanity in the middle of the day

Let me guess. You live either in Suffolk or the North Shore. I live in East Meadow and drive to Mineola everyday. There is no such thing as smaller shops and small Main Streets. Plus, I'm not shopping. I finished that the first week of December. I'm exercising in the mall because it's my lunch break and too cold outside.
And before anyone says it, yes I have a gym membership and yes I go everyday. The afternoon walk is my way of getting out of the office and getting my sanity back. Even if it is for one hour.

I actually live in Qns but I do know the mall area well that you are reffering to. unfortunatly the mall is for shopping not for exercising lol..can you find a gym that is close by to workout in? I am not being snide, I am trying to be helpful.

Oh, I know. Don't worry Actually, lots of people walk around the mall on cold days. It's usually me, some of the elderly, and fellow mall employees on their lunches. And, as stated above, I have a gym membership that I use everyday after work.
But, basically, my initial reason for this post was to vent. Not to argue whether my own personal feelings are justified. Just to vent. That's it.
Look, I'm not the only one.

Tell that to my BIL in Nesconset. He is constantly trying to convince DH and I that Suffolk traffic is worse than Nassau.
