I feel your pain. I used to work over there near the mall and this time of year is simply infuriating. Your commute time more than doubles, you're dodging angry, rushed, horrible drivers, and it's just plain difficult to feel happy and festive during the work day.
It's almost over!

Well, I will argue we have worse traffic during the apple/pumpkin picking season.
But I think it's relative. There are many more "alternate routes" in Nassau. We don't have that many options in Eastern LI.
But generally speaking I think Nassau has it worse. Though where your BIL lives can be bad if he's near the mall.

Re: Traffic. Today I got off Stewart and took St. James to the road around NCC/Hofstra, down to Hempstead and around RexCorp. I had to do this because Stewart was backed up all the way to Franklin.

Traffic is a pain BUT..I get so depressed when everything is over. I love the lights, the music, the feeling of it all. I am a Christmas fanatic though. It goes too fast in my opinion!
me too! I hate january it's dark (no lights) cold, sucky. and we still have a long winter ahead of us , yick!

I totally know the area you're talking about! I went to Hofstra...
But that's just it, at least you were able to take an alternate route b/c the one you normally take was packed.
Out here it's like one lane coming and going... It sucks.

I dont mind the weather, the cold, the shopping, the wrapping, etc.
I just wish I could pull in or out of a parking lot ANYWHERE without fearing for my life. I can deal with the people. I cant deal with the people DRIVING

Big deal, I have to sit in traffic for a little while longer...
I work over there too and while it's frustrating, it is what it is... I know it's coming, so I plan ahead for it... take a different route etc etc.

Sorry ladies, no matter what you say to try to make me love the season, I still can't wait for Christmas to be over. 
Oh, and KeithHernandez, I did take a different route last night and I plan on using it until this madness is over. I found a road that runs parallel to Stewart just along the RR tracks and spits you out over near the Coliseium.
