I like that name!
Here's my philosophy....
how many of these adults are parents with kids whose names you really don't like?
I can honestly tell you that in our case, the people who dislike our name choice the most picked names we also dislike, except we're polite and say nothing 
names are such a personal opinion. there's no way to please everyone. in our case, we only cared that the grandparents and my aunt and uncle in germany didn't hate it.... no one else.

everyone thought our name choices were absurd..we decided not to tell anyone till she gets here what weve decided..
This is basically what happened to us-we got comments like, "Is that even a name?" or "Your kid is going to hate you." So we kind of started to keep it a slight secret so people would get the hint that we really didn't want their opinions(or suggestions!) Once that seemed clear we slowly started sharing the names again. I will announce the name son here once they are born and you can all tel me if they are THAT CRAZY

WE were torn between Christopher and Justin. All our friends said Justin, all our "adults" said Christopher. DH is a pleaser, I think he didnt like the idea that the grandparents might not like the name if we chose Justin. So DS is christopher.
But we were torn! IF we had chosen a name, I would have stuck with it.

This is the reason we decided not to tell anyone the names. People just can't keep their mouths shut, and everyone has an opinion.
However I happen to love the name Jocelyn!

Very few people in my family and none in my dh famil liked the name logan. infact everyone hated it. But i still named my son logan.

If a majority of people disliked the name I picked... I would tell them to bugger off. They pick the name for their child, I pick the name for mine.

that's the funny thing....everyone OUR age seems to like it.
Anyone over 40 doesn't!!!
I never disliked DH pick, I just felt it sounded like an old ladies' name with our last name.

Everyone disliked Seamus in the beginning
But DH and I had that name picked out for our son since we were dating, so it was too bad on everyone else
I look at DS everyday and know he was meant to be a Seamus!

We told our immediate families some of the names we were considering (still haven't even come close to choosing names  ), but other than that, we're not sharing our choices. I don't want to hear people's comments. It really shouldn't matter what other people think of your name choice. If you like it, you should stick with it.

I happend to like the name Jocelyn.... BUT, I also really like the name Allegra and not many people like it at all... and I may not name my dd that (if its a girl) because I grew up with a name that no one liked, and people weren't shy about telling me/ making fun of me... and i think if people don't like it now... kids will make fun of it and he/she is growing up....

My family wasn't too keen on my DD's name but we stuck with it. Her name is Piper.
If you love the name, stick with it. There aren't many things in life that you truly have total control over but this is one of them.

absolutely NOT. We didn't even tell anyone the names beforehand. They expressed not liking the names AFTER the births.
