If I have the skip hop Pronto diaper changer pad to go thing, can I forgo a traditional diaper bag?
so, I have this (though currently sans baby lol)
it holds creams, 4 diapers, wipes, and is a portable changing table.
I realize it doesn't carry bottles, but do you think this could work in lieu of a regular diaper bag, by using in conjunction with a regular back/purse?
I really haven't found a diaper bag that I like...I am just kinda "eh" with them.
so can this work...or am I dreaming? TIA

If you use it with a book bag or purse that is big enough to hold this & the bottles, etc, then I think you will be fine.

I have that too. You'd still need a bigger bag to put it in. It doesn't have to be a diaper bag, but you still need to be able to carry a change of clothes, bottles, snacks, favorite toys... and your own stuff unless you want to carry two bags.

I think you need some type of large bag. It doesn't necessarily need to be a diaper bag.
You'll need to carry extra clothes, bottles, meals, snacks, etc... For a long trip anyway.
I think that is fine for quick trips to the store though.

Re: If I have the skip hop Pronto diaper changer pad to go thing, can I forgo a traditional diaper bag?
I think you still need a bag. You'll want at least one change of clothes (and since you plan to BF, in the early stages you'll want a couple - those things are explosive ), toys (rattles in the beginning), then books, etc.
I'm trying to think what I have in my diaper bag now (I hate mine actually so I use DH's diaper dude):
diapers (regular and swimming) change of clothes sunblock sun hat extra socks snack trap & extra snacks sippy when we're on the go wipes/ointment/disposable diaper bags for poops meds (benadryl on the go for emergency, teething tablets) utensils bibs as a NB you'll need a few burp clothes
obviously you don't need all this stuff in the beginning, but you will soon enough - so it's worth having a bag (not necessarily a diaper bag, but something dedicated to baby stuff)
ETS: I did keep something similar to what you posted in my truck and in my stroller basket for walks / quick trips.
Bumped an old post for fun for ya

Re: If I have the skip hop Pronto diaper changer pad to go thing, can I forgo a traditional diaper bag?
Speaking from 11 1/2 of months of dealing with a baby on the go.............I would personally say that I couldn't function without my full on, big diaper bag. I love all the compartments and storage it offers. In addition to all the changing supplies it hold I keep a thermometer, hair brush, Tylenol, baby food, snacks, change of clothes, sweathshirt (in case it's cold anywhere), receiving blanket, burp cloth, toys, snack for me , sunblock, bottles, and more in there! I really couldn't do without my diaper bag! JMO.

You need a diaper bag. Or you need a large bag to put that in along with bottles/extra clothes/blankets, etc, etc, etc.
That would probably be good to run to the store with DC and that's it.

I have one of the skip hop things too. What I typically do is leave the diaper bag in the car and run around with this thing. That way, I have all the "stuff" that babies and kids need to travel with but I don't need to have with me at all times.

Nope, in the beginning you will need a real diaper bag to hold the bottles. There is so much extra crap that you need for them it's crazy.
As they get older you will carry less and less but that's not for awhile.

Sure... you don't NEED a diaper bag, just keep in mind that you will need something big enough to hold all your stuff.
You will be carrying with you at all times at least 3-4 diapers, a good amount of wipes, bottles, formula, burp cloth, if you nurse a hooter hider, a change of clothes, and then all your stuff like wallet, phone, etc.

Re: If I have the skip hop Pronto diaper changer pad to go thing, can I forgo a traditional diaper bag?
My friend recently had a baby. She and her husband were visiting her mother in law with the baby and had their packed diaper bag with them. In the bag, she had 12 diapers just in case! They were there for an hour or two...maybe 3 at the most. The baby left grandma's house in a (dog's) wee wee pad wrapped around him with duct tape. Yes, he went through alllll TWELVE of those diapers, and they left before they were supposed to because he was in a wee wee pad!!
And, this wasn't a one time thing....she came to my house to visit and I'd say she went through around 12 diapers while she was here as well.....
So, the moral of the story....yes, I think you'll need a diaper bag!

Re: If I have the skip hop Pronto diaper changer pad to go thing, can I forgo a traditional diaper bag?
short and simple: babies need a lot of cr*p and you have to lug it. the smaller they are, the more they have.
i have the pronto and really like it (though a friend has this round changing pad with pockets and it looks awesome!). but i need my diaper bag! there is just too much stuff. the pronto is great for quick trips, but even then I still have a lunch bag (DD is over a year) or things stored in a stroller.

I think you will need something else, but not necessarily a big diaper bag. I have one of those and its the best thing ever imo

Re: If I have the skip hop Pronto diaper changer pad to go thing, can I forgo a traditional diaper bag?
You can use that and your regular purse/bag.
Having learned the hard way, I'd advise to put bottles in ziplocks. It was relatively easy to clean since the inside of the diaper bag was vinyl lined, but it would have ruined a regular bag.
