This is amusing to me. I live in queens and if money were no object theres no way Id buy a house here!
Eh, there's a lot of us that love Queens. Considering starter homes in the nicer areas are $900K plus, yeah it's a dream!

It's less for the destination as it is for the closeness to family. My parents, siblings, ILs, cousins, aunt/uncle, grandmother... all in Queens. And we're all very close. I also have DD in daycare in Queens and hope to put her in school in Queens next year. We just couldn't afford anything worthwhile in Queens so we're in Nassau. Or maybe I'd just go the opposite direction and buy them all houses by me.  But they're brats and they wouldn't move to LI.

A hundred acres or more in North Carolina or that general area. With a lake or pond.
Some quads to cruise around the property.
Building to set up a forge so I could do some blacksmithing/blade making.
Bigger woodwork shop so I could make more furniture.

Adopt tons and tons of dogs and have a huge space just for them!
 
I wish more people who actually have money would do this but they don't!!

I wouldn't mind staying in Queens - Bayside, Douglaston Manor, Beechurst would be my choices.
Smallish capes where I am in Bayside are about $800k.

Yes. Bayside, Forest Hills...I love those areas. If we had the $$$ we would have totally bought there rather than on LI.

I get what you are saying. I'm a BK/Queens gal, but if money was no object NYC, NJ heck the northeast would probably be the last places on my mind lol. I'm out
