If people don't RSVP to a party you are hosting, what do you do?

What do you do with the people who do not RSVP to a party that you are hosting?

DS Christening in on Sunday and about 20 people still haven't RSVP'd (ALL OF THEM ARE MEMBERS OF DH's FAMILY )

The RSVP date was the 24th. WWYD?

I would call them. Better yet, make DH call them
20 is a HUGE number for an event like that, I would not want to "assume" either way. Can you send a group email to all/most of them asking them to get back to you?

It partly depends on who the person is...there are some people you just know will be there or won't be there even if they don't RSVP. For anyone else, I would call if I needed to give a head count at a restaurant so they can set up properly. If it was a party at the house, I would just have a little extra food available but not bother with calling.

I just don't understand why it's so difficult for people to RSVP! Part of me wants to call them and be like what the f and the other part of me doesn't even want to bother... We rented out a large space and we're having it catered. These people are the difference between a party for 75 and a party for 95. I already ordered everything assuming they will be there, bc I'd hate to not have enough, but it's just annoying! Many of these people are older and not really up on the whole emailing thing, so we'd have to call if anything... Grrrr!

Call them...you don't want to waste money and food if they don't show up...but you also don't want to have too little food if they do show up. Twenty people is a lot...and I agree, since they're from your DH's side, have him call them!

I usually sick the moms on them.

MIL calls her family and my mom calls mine.

But ultimately I assume they ARE NOT coming but still put them in the headcount so I have enough food.

Call them. As annoying as it is. Assuming will only lead to a headache later.

First I'd call them and ask them if they're going and second I would tell them how disgustingly RUDE they are and to get some class! I SOOO HATTEEE people that do this!

Normally for me it depends on how many people we are talking about and what kind of party it is say 2-4 people and backyard type party where you will have plenty of food anyway I just say maybe they will show maybe not. But in this instance where there are 20 people you haven't heard from I think it is fair to call and the easiest thing to do is say I was finalizing our list and realized I haven't heard from you - did you get our invitation?

I'm a b**** with stuff like that. Sorry, do NOT have the nerve to show up to our party when you didn't have 20 seconds to leave a message to RSVP.

Admittedly, we had a family member show up to DD's 1st birthday party. She had never RSVP'd, and I made a huge deal of it when I saw her at the door. I just said something like, "Oh, hi! We weren't expecting you, you never told us you were coming!".

I know, I'm mean but IMO, you have it coming to you if you have a big enough set to pull something like that!

I know this won't apply to most of the people who didn't rsvp - and that IS annoying, but... There may be one or two in the situation I was in: A good friend emailed me to ask if we were going to her daughter's Christening b/c she needed to know by the next day. Well we never RSVPd b/c I never got the invite (must have gotten lost in the mail somehow).

I am SO glad she emailed me, b/c we will definitely go. I am sure she was thinking some mean thoughts about me as well

I chose "other" because it depends. If it's someone I sent an invite to as a courtesy but who I know wouldn't come (like if they are out of town) then I assume they aren't coming. If it's close family then I assume they are coming. If it's a friend or questionable situation then I'd email them (or call if they weren't online).

In my experience, those who don't RSVP aren't coming. I've never had someone show up that didn't RSVP. It's rude, but I wouldn't sweat it too much.

I email them all a day or 2 after the RSVP date!

Have DH call for sure. Esp since its his family.

This is such a pet peeve of mine. Every party I throw, there are people who dont RSVP. I provide a phone # and an email address so why is it so difficult for people to make a quick phone call or type out a quick email? Grrrr.
