If this isn't your first child

Is this pregnancy different? Not in the way you feel, but kind of in the way you are treated or the way other people feel about your pregnancy.....i don't know what the word is. i dont know, maybe anti-climactic, well thats not right because the climax is well the baby, but you know the first time you have a baby you get to register and have a shower and everyone is over the moon buying you presents and stuff. I'm just wondering what it will be like this time around. I'm only 8 wks tomorrow and b/c I have had 2 losses many people dont even know yet so i haven't really faced this yet, but I was just wondering.

Re: If this isn't your first child

it's different in a lot of ways, but mostly because i am so busy this time around that i don't have time to sit around and really focus on this baby like i did with DS.

i have an almost one-year-old to take care of, plus we are closing on our first house on Monday.

we are team Chat Icon so i'll be buying very little before the baby is born.

the only exciting thing for me is the sonos and picking out names. and getting DS his big boy furniture!

our families still ask me all the time how i am feeling but they don't seem to be as obsessed this time around Chat Icon

i am sure i'll be more excited as it gets closer to march but for now i'm just... content Chat Icon

Re: If this isn't your first child

I understand totally how you feel.. this time we are staying team green- to make it a little more exciting- since there really isn't a big shower or "to do"... although I'm registering for a few things that need replacing (bouncy seat, new high chair, etc)..

it's hard chasing around a toddler, to really obsess about this little one so much, although going to the peri every 2 weeks does certainly keep my attention focused!

Re: If this isn't your first child

I have only told my parents so far, so I can't say just yet how other people are reacting. But I have to admit, it's a little boring especially being team green. Last time I was really into the planning the nursery, what I was going to buy etc...

I am trying to focus on my DD and her last 9 months of being the only apple of my eye! Chat Icon

This is my 4th but the first time ever as teamChat Icon not only has it made the family more into this pg, it's got me feeling like I'm having my "first" again.
Not caring isn't the word, but I can say people don't get overly excited when I tell them it's my 4th- if anything I'll get "Are you done after this?"

When I fist found out I was pg, my cousin sent me a "Congats on your pg" card. It had me in tears! I was so touched, I was smiling for days.

Re: If this isn't your first child

Well, I had a really difficult PG with DS and this pg so far (34 weeks) has been the complete opposite. Also we are pg with a girl this time so people are excited for us. I think it might be different if it was a second boy.

Re: If this isn't your first child

We were actually team green with DS and will be finding out the sex this time so that will put a different spin on things I guess. To me its still exciting of course, I'm over the moon. Plus DS is 3 so he understands somewhat I am excited to experience this through his eyes. I guess I'm just wondering if I will get that extra special attention from everyone else....probably not. Lol! But that's ok.
