If we plan to put our place on the market within the next couple of weeks..
Is there any value in scrambling to get it on this week to take advantage of any momentum from the tax credit?
Obviously there isn't enough time for any buyer to meet the criteria of the 4/30 timing, but there may be many buyers who are in the thick of their housing search.

Not an expert by any means but here are my thoughts:
Since it is already too late for someone to receive the credit, I don't think a few weeks will matter.
If you have some improvements, cleaning out, etc. work to do then I would get this done before putting it on the market. When a new house is listed, people who are looking for a while jump in to view it. You might turn off potential buyers by these little projects that aren't done yet. They might not come back, KWIM.
I would get your house in best shape to show it and then list is. You have to time it based on what is best for you and your family. Don't worry too much about the market because there isn't much you can do about that.

thanks-- our place is pretty much ready, just need to spend a day cleaning up a little clutter and bringing it to storage.
I spoke to the agent that I think we;ll use, and he said there are plenty of buyers out there, so no need to rush.

I agree with the PP. At this point, the tax credit is a non-issue so I would spend some time getting your house in the best possible shape before listing - declutter, plant some flowers, tackle any small projects, etc.
I wouldn't rush and risk turning buyers off because the little things aren't done.
