if you already have a child(ren), please come in.....

lately I have been getting nervous about my delivery..which is normal, I guess but I'm worried about how my other kids will be while I'm at the hospital. They will miss me terribly. Also, I have this fear that something will go wrong and something happening..I know I shouldn't feel this way but I do. Chat Icon

I think its normal to be nervous and have these fears but you will be fine! I have a 2.5 yo DS and he will be with my parents, so I have no worries, but of course I will miss him when I am at the hospital for a couple of days.

I know they will be in good hands ... just can't help feeling nervous. I guess it's normal.

I'm certainly more nervous about this labor than I was with my first. All the anxiety about DS1 - and how he will be with me gone for a few days.....plus the "what if" in the event soemthing goes wrong.

I can't stand the fear and stress, so I just try to push it to the back of my mind.

I'm not too worried about how DD will be while I'm in the hospital bc she's still so young but I do find myself worrying about the "what ifs".

I do worry b/c I'll be gone 3 nights with CS. But DH or my mom will be with them so it will be fine.

I could have written this post. I'm so nervous about when I will go into delivery. I've thougjt about writing out a day in the life of dd instructions to cover all bases. I'm so nervous that if someone drives with her that they leave her in the car by accident bc they're not used to having a toddler in the car. So many fears.

I am concerned for my youngest DD since she's 19 months old and will be under 2 when Chat Icon is born and she's only been away from me overnight a couple of times and the last was when she first turned one. At the same time I plan on staying in the hospital after my csection the longest amount of time my insurance allows (my hands will be full). I do plan on getting her a gift bag (books, crayons, coloring books, maybe a toy of some sort)from her Chat Icon and my older DC gift cards so they won't feel left out.

if you already have a child(ren), please come in.....

Six months ago I absolutely could have written this post. I'm a SAHM and in 2.5 years had never spent a night away from DD1. I rarely left her for more than an hour or two. My mom kept asking if we'd made plans yet for when I went to the hospital and I kept putting her off bc I didn't even want to think about it.

A month before my due date after I'd already put DD to bed I ended up going to the hospital for what I thought would be quick monitoring and ended up with a cs that night. I felt terrible that we hadn't really prepared her yet for that idea. As far as the day to day, my mom and mil took turns staying with her and she had the time of her life! They did call me (or my sister) when they had questions about her routine but after a day or two they were fine. I stayed in the hospital 5 full days and she was fine. She could barely be bothered to talk to me on the phone and I had to stop my mom from replaying every part of her day for me bc I realized she was fine. We decided not to have her come to the hospital at all bc the baby was in the nicu and couldn't see her and I thought it would be too confusing and hard for her to see me and then have to leave without me and it was fine. The first night home was tough. When I put her to bed all the emotions came pouring out of her and we both cried. She was afraid I was going to leave again. After a few nights there were no more tears and within probably 2 weeks she was totally over it so looking back at that time it was tough but so short lived. Kids are so resilient and you will remember it much more than they will. You'll both be fine and of course the new baby deserves that bonding time with you too.

I felt the same for my entire pregnancy. The one thing I worried about was leaving DD for that long. She is very attached to me so I felt so sad thinking about it. I actually cried the days leading up to and the morning we dropped her off at my parents on our way to the hospital.

My parents brought her up to the hospital just before my surgery so I was able to spend time with her before I went in. She was a little sad and didn't understand why I wasn't coming home. It broke my heart. But she stayed until the baby was born and while I was in recovery. She was even able to ring the new baby bell at St. Charles. At St. Charles you are allowed to be with family while you are i recovery now. It's so much better. I was able to see her as soon as the surgery was over.

I am definitely more nervous about going into labor again and delivering! I dunno why but I feel like with my first I was 2 weeks early and didn't really think I was in labor the day I had him, I was at work and taught two periods before I left lol. So I am having some anxiety about when I will deliver and how the beginning part of labor will feel again!

Now onto the other part of leaving my son who will be almost 2 1/2 when I deliver. Me and Dh both work so he is used to being with our family and the babysitter during the day! We also live next door to my in laws so he sees them every other day just about! We've left him overnight before with both my mom and my mother in law so I know he will be fine! Plus Dh will go home at night to be with him! I'll obv miss him when I'm in the hospital but it went so fast last time so hopefully it won't seem too long and he'll come visit me and his new sister!

Honestly, I haven't even given two thoughts about it. He will be well cared for and probably love not having the bedtime gestapo around for a few days. He'll see me during the day anyway so it will be fine.

Of course I think about the what ifs, but I can't be consumed with worry about them. It's pointless and unhealthy. Just stay positive. Everything will be fine.

I wasn't nervous or worried at all because my parents and my in-laws babysit my kids. They are very close to my kids and have spent the night at both their houses many times, so I knew they were in good hands. Don't worry, everything will be fine and I bet you will be more anxious over it then your kids! Chat Icon
