I completely agree. I root for Boston during the season, not b/c I'm a Red Sox fan, but b/c I want them to beat the Yankees. The only time I'd ever root for the Yankees, Phillies or Braves would be if it helped the Mets in the standings.

i guess i should add my POV...
i am a die-hard yankee fan, but am in no way a mets hater. the ONLY reason i am laughing my a$$ off now is because of all my mets-fan friends who were soooo happy that the yankees started out so badly and struggled so much while the mets cruised in first place.
truth is, if the yankees get booted in the first round of the playoffs (why oh why couldn't they beat the !*$@#@& tigers???), and the mets make it to the world series, i will root for them to win - and be very, very happy if they do. especially since my grandfather is a huge mets fan!
ITA! die hard yanks fan here and i honestly could care less what the Mets are doing. it makes me laugh when my friends that are Mets fans start ripping on the yankees because i just concentrate on my team and dont worry about what they're doing, its not like they're in the AL that i would have to worry about their stats. but if the yanks got booted and the Mets were left standing I would definitely root for them! i still have my NY pride!
