If you are hosting 4th of July BBQ
What is on your menu?
I ask my guests to bring desert so I just need main course ideas. I'm so bored with my usual items.

Re: If you are hosting 4th of July BBQ
Last year we went to a 4th of July BBQ and the hosts just got heros. Which I thought was a good idea, they got to spend more time with their quests and less time at the grill.

I recently had seafood sausages for the first time. They were awesome! I had them plain b/c I wanted to see what the actually taster was like-the fish guy says he sautees peppers and onion w/ them.

Re: If you are hosting 4th of July BBQ
So far, this is what we're doing.
Burgers and hot dogs
Veggie burgers and veggie hot dogs
Marinated and grilled portabello caps, maybe grilled eggplant too.
Grilled corn on the cob with lime and chili pepper
Potato salad that my friend is bringing...it's off the hook!
Slow-cooker baked beans
Spicy cole slaw
Homemade pickles
And munchies, of course...chips and dips/salsa, fresh veggies and dip...fruit salad, maybe?
White wine sangria
Still working on the full menu. We have a mix of vegetarians and meat-a-tarians attending, plus one or two vegans. I'll add a dessert in there, and a guest will be bringing cupcakes.

Re: If you are hosting 4th of July BBQ
If you want something different, you can go with a Latin inspired menu - we did last year since we were going to a BBQ the next day that was going to have all of the BBQ basics and ALL of the same people.
Marinated Skirt Steak with Chimichurri Empanadas (beef and/or spinach and chesse - surprisingly even the "steak" guys preferred the spinach and cheese and those were the easier of the two to make! Also great to make since you can make them now and freeze Mango mint salad Jicama Slaw
You can serve with sangria (great for a bigger crowd), mojitos, margaritas, coronas, dos equis, etc.
