If you aren't shopping on Black Friday and are off...
...what are you doing?
I would like to do something that day, rather than just sit around the house all day.
Stores- or anything even close to major shopping areas- are out obviously.
Any ideas for us and a 6 year old?

probably putting up the tree, watching the christmas spectacular on amazon prime (found it last year AFTER we saw the show...), and having leftovers.
if we feel like venturing out, i was thinking of a nearby museum...but id need to call to make sure its open.

I don't live on LI- there are lots of great places to hike near my home so if the weather is good, I'll be outside.
Otherwise, I will be very happy to sit around with a good book.

We want to see it- DD can't wait.
But then I heard from someone on here that Black Friday is a terrible day to see a movie because it's so crowded.
I never knew that- I thought all the crowds were at the mall.
One year we did the winieries on Black Friday- it was pure genius. They were EMPTY. But now we have a child so the wineries are not as much fun.  
Plus having to get by the Tanger outlets to head out east scares the piss out of me on that day. LOL

The trouble is I think everything is going to be busy that day because so many people are off.
It's really on par with a holiday like July 4th except maybe even worse because the service industry is all open and operating, unlike some holidays where small businesses might close.
I do my decorating and am generally happy to not leave the house, but if not we'd consider the movies. Some theaters let you pick your seats in advance now so even if you are sitting in traffic and just running in at the last minute you are guaranteed a seat.

I'm going mountain bike riding in the morning and then DH and I will continue working on renovating our kitchen. My new countertops arrive tomorrow, so I am going to start organizing and setting up the kitchen.

I will avoid stores that whole weekend like the plague! Right now I have lunch plans with my friend and her baby who I haven't met yet. I *may* start decorating even though it kills me to do that before December 1st. Also may book a massage.

We usually stay home and recover, watch football, etc. Last year the whole family went bowling which was a lot of fun.

We'll be visiting family in Boston and got free tickets to the aquarium. The weather is suppose to be gross, but I am sure my 2 year old will love it.

I'm way too lazy to decorate that day. I despise decorating for Christmas. It's a huge hassle and mess and just hours of work and so exhausting.
I force myself to do it the first weekend in December and it's such a chore.
Might check into the movies- right now they only have one movie available to pre-buy tickets for, but I'll keep checking back
