If you BF and had to cut some things out of your diet...please help
How did you know WHAT you needed to cut out of your diet? can you tell me about the process and how you figured it out.

DD was VERY gassy...could not get the gas out. We always had to bicycle or massage her to help it get out.
We took her to ped for urine and poop tests...all came back fine...but when I cut out dairy it seemed to get better.

DD has really bad eczema (besides having the patches behind her knees and in the creases of her elbows her torso felt like sandpaper and was always red and looked inflamed to me) and dark green mucusy poop. With that I cut out dairy and eggs (those are her allergies still at 26 months old). I cut out the obvious stuff first and that was enough. I didn't need to read labels to see if it had milk in it. She was never fussy.

I'm in the process of doing this. I find myself over analyzing every bit of gas, poopy diaper, and spit up and wondering i something I ate caused it.
DS has the occasional very mucusy poop and is fussy from gas at times. He spits up more some days than others so I'm assuming this is all related to my diet.
For everyone who cut out dairy, did you only cut out full dairy products like cheese, milk, ice cream... or do you read labels and avoid anything with minor amounts of milk?
I've been avoiding it all even in trace amounts but don't know if it's really making a difference.

same here! i analyze everything too. Ds's poop can be green or mucusy too..and he is fussy when this happens. but then the next day he is fine and i wonder again if it is my diet. cutting dairy completely is nearly impossible! it's in EVERYTHING! even crackers,,,cereal...i just avoid the heavy dairy like yogurt, ice cream, milk, pudding etc. but not sure it does any good anyway

just know that it can take 2-3 WEEKS for ALL dairy to leave your system!
Also look at packages for whey and casein they are dairy derivatives!

Re: If you BF and had to cut some things out of your diet...please help
Yael was very gassy and fussy. I knew from experience with Alex that what I was eating might have something to do with it.
So for two weeks I eliminated everything that could be the culprit - dairy, soy, caffeine, chocolate, broccoli, etc.
Slowly I started reintroducing the items one by one. Nothing seemed to bother her when I started eating them again except dairy. On days I ate dairy she was a god-awful mess. So I eliminated it completely and she's been fine ever since.

First off congrats!!! I missed your initial birth announcement thread.
Secondly, when I BF DD, she was extremely gassy in the beginning - turns out I had to cut out salad and cheese. When I was just drinking skim milk with my morning cereal, she was fine. HTH!

DS was mucousy, constipated and developed eczema so I eliminated diary.
Once he switched to solid foods I found more things he can't tolerate - bananas, applesauce and rice bind him up and eggs made him break out in hives. It has really been tral and error.
