If you carried something on your bouquet to remember a lost relative....
could you please share it with me? We are running out of time for DH to pick something to give to his sister on her wedding day. Their father has been gone 2 years now. Just looking for ideas.
TIA!!!!

I didn't but my sister had a small framed picture of our father attached to her bouqet. It was a pin so she was able to attach it easily.

Re: If you carried something on your bouquet to remember a lost relative....
I lost my sister and was going to wrap the top of the bo-k with a favorite necklace of hers. But I got a small charm of a picture of my sister for my shower. I decided to pin it on the inside of my bra. I wanted it there for me and no one else.
But an option was to take that charm and pin it on the bo-k.

Did their dad have tie tacs? one could be pinned onto it. I had a broach that was my Grandmas's pinned on. Did he have any monogramed shirts? can one be cut and used to wrap around the stems?

i suggest looking at stores that are starting to carry Christmas ornaments. That's what I used for my father's picture. BTW, the book I am holding is my mother's bridal bible (Old Testament).

OOH! ARGH! I think they got rid of most of his clothes. DH is contemplating their dad's Giants watch. If you knew FIL, you know how much that means. He was actually buried in his Mark Bavaro jersey. That was an interesting sight at the wake.
I can look into sewing something real quick too.
Kepp the ideas coming! I am leaving it up to DH.

When my grandmother passed away, we had rosaries made of the roses at her graveside during the service. My cousin and I each carried the rosary wrapped around the stem of the flowers.
I also had a sixpence in my shoe, which was a gift from my grandmother (it follows the "something old, something blue, something borrowed, something new. And for luck a sixpence in her shoe"

My grandmother LOVED butterflies. I had a little crystal butterfly in there for her.

My Aunt Passed away 5 months to the day of my wedding of Pancreatic Cancer, so I had a small purple rhinestone pin attached to my Bouquet to honor her memory.

Re: If you carried something on your bouquet to remember a lost relative....
I wore my father's wedding band and had a jeweled butterfly in my bouquet representing my mother. The butterfly was based on a conversation before my mom died. Is there something that is 'special' between your SIL and her dad? Like.. did they like the same book.. maybe a ribbon with a quote from that book on it? Maybe he can get a charm bracelet with a charm on it that denotes something that existed between her father and herself.. like a golf club if they golfed together - or a music note if they listened to music together. Maybe just a charm with her dad's initial? Or a Christmas ornament with a little girl dancing on her father's feet to hang from the bouquet..
or maybe he can copy this poem and get the charms sized for an adult.. telling her he knows her dad would have felt this way on her wedding day: Bottom of Page
He can change it from first person to 3rd person when offering it??

Re: If you carried something on your bouquet to remember a lost relative....
My sister bought a locket for me with photos of 2 of my aunts
This was my old/new/borrowed/blue stuff as well - old photos, new locket, borrwed (safety pin!) and blue ribbon...
Right before the wedding, my dad also passed away, and I carried his FDNY pin in my bouquet too.

Re: If you carried something on your bouquet to remember a lost relative....
I had a beutiful jeweled mini frame wired into my bo-k with a picture of my mom. It was a pic of her at my sis's wedding. After my mom died, I started wearing my mom's wedding band on my right hand. I was going to pin it inside my dress, but in the end decided to wear it.

This is exactly what I did. This way he still walked me down the aisle.

I believe my Aunt sent them to a company that made the rosaries...

Re: If you carried something on your bouquet to remember a lost relative....
it was a lapel pin from DH's grandmother. I wore it in the ribbon in my bouquet...it was a bumblebee made out of pearls and gold...she was still alive at 102 but very frail and was living at a nursing home at the time. she died exactly 2 months later.

My friend's father died in 9/11. They tore up an old blue shirt of his and twisted the pieces to look like flowers and put it in her sister's bo-q as her something blue. I thought it was such a great idea

My grandpa always wore bolero ties instead of regular ones...I had one of them around the base of my bouquet.
