Re: If you could Stay at home would you?
I would work P/T or only temporarily STAHM.
Just in case something were to happen to DH (you just never know!), I would have to provide for my family/child. It's never good to have a 10 year gap on your resume either. It could be hard finding a "good" job!

Re: If you could Stay at home would you?
Well, I think I've made it clear where I stand on this issue - a BIG FAT NO. I could stay home - we could afford it - but I've worked too hard to get to this position, and I absolutely adore my work - it gives me meaning and fulfillment beyond my family, which is something that's very important to me.

Re: If you could Stay at home would you?
If we would just be "barely comfortable" then no. But if we had tons of money then yes. And I'd probably have 4 kids instead of 2.

Re: If you could Stay at home would you?
No. But I'd like to work part-time. I work now 3 days in teh city and 2 days at home, so it's sorta part-time. But today is my work from home day and i'm really working! I can't even take the baby for a walk!

No, I really don't think so. We can afford for me to stay home but I like working p/t.

Re: If you could Stay at home would you?
I work 3 days a week, but my part-time position could be considered FT because I work 10+ hours each day that I work. I believe my work situation is perfect for me.

Re: If you could Stay at home would you?
being that i stayed home for 18months and now Im back at work I would have to say NO. I know that may sound harsh and i love my son to death but I felt it to be very lonely, bored and anxious at home. I wish that i could work a little less maybe go in at 10 instead of 8 but other then that i am very happy being a working mom. I was running out of things to keep me and Bryan busy during the day and was going stir crazy.

Re: If you could Stay at home would you?
No. I love my daughter to pieces but I also love my job (nurse) and feel "worthy" in my profession and would hate to give up all my schooling and my dream. I work part time now and it's my ideal. I would go crazy being a SAHM but that is just me.

Yes - but I also wish I could work PT and make enough for DH to be a SAHD too

I'm confused. Didn't you state in your other post that you are a SAHM? But you are saying here that you wouldn't be.....
I am a SAHM but i have to say, I know everything going on in the world and I barely watch TV. I go to groups, I work PT from home, I get out with my son, I meet other moms, read the paper, watch news etc...I like to feel i'm pretty with it, and very happy with my decision. It was hard for me at first but it's been great overall.

Thanks for all the honest replies. It seems we have a good healthy mix on this subject. And we all know a happy mom = a happy home.

Re: If you could Stay at home would you?
I had the most AMAZING 13 month maternity leave and I loved being with my son...but a part of my new life, which I find quite joyful, is taking the kid to nursery, seeing him run off to play with something and then walking off into the sunset!!!
If I could work 3 days a week I would be happier, but now I am stuck with 4 days!

No. I would still work part time like I do now. I worked too hard in school for my job and honestly, I do love it and love the people I work with and patients I get to meet every day.

I was a FT SAHM for 15 months after my 2nd was born. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I went back to work part-time (DH is with the kids when I'm at work) in October and it's the best thing I could have done. For both me and my kids.
