Where would you use a blow up pool on a cruise?
People on a cruise website said they used it either on their balcony or near the pool area. They suggested getting a small one or a small blow up bathtub.

If a child is not potty trained, they are not allowed even in the kiddie area.

I'm sure those are the rules but you know how many moms must put their kids in swimmies diapers and let them go in anyway? I bet half the kids are truly trained.

If I were going, I would bring a small one.
Just bring a bucket and fill it up, park it by your chairs.
I would totally do it, I do it when we go to the beach

Yes that is true but last year when we went on our cruise, Matthew was 13 months and he went in the kiddie pool. Noone said anything. There were camp counselors around for the kids that were in camp but noone ever said anything.
I think you'll be able to get away with bringing Andrew to the kiddie pool.

If you have a small one I would just bring it. Even if you set it up right by your chairs, it will probably keep him entertained for a while.

Yeah you know what, if it's a really small one and it keeps him entertained then I say go for it. Sometimes the pool areas are so overcrowded.
When are you going on your cruise? I'm jealous by the way...

If you got the swim suit that is also a swim diaper, you wouldn't have to put a regular swim diaper on him and no one would know.

No. We cruised on carnival, and they have a little splash pool attached to one of the regular pools, and it worked out fine.

Ditto! But I never considered it at the time to bring one but it wouldnt have been a bad idea since she was 6 months old.

Re: If you cruised with a toddler, Did you bring a blow up pool?
Great Idea. I took my son on Royal Carribean and they would NOT let him in the pool. They kept coming over and telling me to take him out. Bring the pool and avoid the aggrivation. Some ships have a "baby splash zone" for babies only, two of the Royal carribean ships have them but not the one I was on.

Re: If you cruised with a toddler, Did you bring a blow up pool?
Royal caribbean, Celebrity, Princess are all pretty strict with the no babies who aren't potty trained in the pools - I know on Celebrity and Princess I saw them constantly going over and asking people to remove their children.
I think Carnival, NCL and not sure about Disney are more lax - they others claim it is a CDC violation.
I have heard about people bringing blow up pools for their balconies and spoken with parents who said that they had one on board but haven't seen one in person. The only thing is where would you dump the water after on the balcony?

It is against CDC regulations to do so on Carnival. Not even swim diapers are allowed. I will try the swim diaper under a reg diaper and see if they catch me. And I will bring the blow up pool too.
Thanks everyone

Parents said they take the water out with the ice bucket and just put it down the drain in the bathroom.

The ship we went on last year was the Norwegian Dawn. Noone said anything when I had DS in the kiddie pool or in the adult pool...

Re: If you cruised with a toddler, Did you bring a blow up pool?
If its not taking up much space I would bring it and use it in the pool area if needed. We were on RC last summer and I would not have put a baby in the kiddie pool. There were too many kids pre school - about 9yo in the kiddie pool. My DS was 4 and he had a blast but he was used to the water, being accidently splashed etc. There may not be as many kids on the curise you go on and the pool may be fine but as I said I would bring one just in case.

Re: If you cruised with a toddler, Did you bring a blow up pool?
I brought a blow up bath tub since the room only had a stand up shower. Like other have said, DS was not allowed in the grownup pools. The baby pools do say no diapers (including swim diapers), but it was not enforced there. It was STRONGLY enforced in the grownup pools though. They kicked out a few babies. It is not safe and if there is an accident, they have to empty out the entire pool and sanitize it. In the baby pools, the water is circulated. Go to cruisecritic.com about your particular cruise line. There should be recommendations there.
