If you did a 24-hour urine collection...

I went and picked up the jug this morning.

I can't believe I'm even asking this, but how did you collect your urine? The jug is too big to fit into the toilet without hitting the water and I know I'd make a mess if I hovered and tried to aim.

I'm thinking about taking a pint glass or 2 and using those and then dumping into the container.

How did you do it? Chat Icon

I did this in November and don't really remember what I did, but I know it was akward. Hopefully this makes sense: can you hold the jug outside the toilet at an angle and point the top towards the toilet? You'd probably have to pee standing up somewhat. If not, maybe you can hold the jug over the toilet and kind of stand while peeing. Otherwise, if you have plastic cups, just pee in that and pour it into the jug.

Re: If you did a 24-hour urine collection...

I had to do it while at the hospital after being admitted for high blood pressure. I "tinkled" into a bedpan with a spout and then poured it into the jug. I had to measure it each time I went. IW!

I think it might be easier to use a big red solo cup or something like that so you can just throw it out after you pour it into the jug.
Good luck!

When I did it the nurse told me to pee into a container - and then pour it into the jug NOT to try to pee into the jug itself.

When I did it when I was PG with DD, they gave me a "hat" for the toilet.

You lifted up the toilet seat, and put this upside down hat looking thing on the toilet, and then put the toilet seat down and peed into the "hat." It collects all the pee and then you pour it into the container.

My sister had to do the same thing. and they gave her the bed pan and she went in there at the hospital.

I used a big plastic cup to go in and then transfered it to the jug.. I obviously threw it out when I was done w/ the 24 hour period.

I used a big red solo cup.

Just make sure to check the cup for cracks before each use. Trust me, it's not fun when, after you pee, you realize there is a small hairline crack on the side of the cup. Chat Icon

Re: If you did a 24-hour urine collection...

They told me not to use a cup and that I had to pee directly into the container.

I kind of squatted, with the jug pressed up against my privates and went.

It was miserable and by the end of the 24 hours, it smelled when I opened the jug. It smelled like a port-a-potty.

Sorry if TMI.

I had to do this a long time ago. Get a plastic cup and pee in that and then transfer it!
