If you ever worked in a restaurant/food establishment...
... what is your opinion of the place now that you know it from the inside?
Boston Market - very clean, good food, still love to eat there!
Applebee's - everything is either fried or microwaved. Still eat there, but I don't love it.
Vincent's Clam Bar - excellent food, good service, terrible management

i worked a place called sushi lounge in nj... it's very clean, excellent food, very fun to work at, but some of the staff is pretty skeevy

I wont rat the places out that I worked bc they are mom and pop restaurants and not big chains, but of all, the only one I would still eat in is....

McDonalds - what you would expect... not 5 star dining...
Boardwalk Concession Stand in Rockaway... again kinda what you would expect... its a concession stand so...
i still eat at both... nothing there is overly gross that i would never eat there again...

I've worked at a few places:
Small restaurant in woodbury that was awesome. Gone now. If it was still there I would eat there. Beanstalk Cafe.
Clara's cafe at Fortunoff...I really liked that place and if it still existed I would eat there.
Sprats. Holy cow, glad it's gone
Fridays-definitely has gone down..I still eat there but I'm never 100% satisfied. I go for the Potstickers.

Everything was made fresh every single morning...i.e. lettuce chopped, onions sliced. Meat was never frozen, ever. Top quality fast food!
Only place I will ever eat for fast food.

probably depends on the location- I worked at one all through high school and it was immaculate and the food was delivered every other day and very fresh

Applebee's -- agree with another poster -- not only is everything microwaved or fried, it's all portioned DAYS before you eat it, and put in little baggies.
When your order is up - they just heat up the baggie and plop it on your plate.
Because of the microwaving, the times that I do go there, I get things I know they have to fry up fresh.

I've worked at 2 in NJ, both are closed. One I'm glad it's gone, the other I miss a lot.
I worked at Acquista Trattoria in Queens and I'm there once a month. It's my dad's friend's restaurant and where I got engaged

I used to work at Boston Market and it was NOT clean!! I would never eat there. We had cockroaches crawling near the sides all the time and not just one or two of them. Once a cook dropped an entire cooked spit of chicken on the floor and the manager told him to pick it up and serve it anyway. The chefs in the back dropped stuff all the time and they always served it.

I worked in the take out section of Raynor's in Baldwin.. I loved everyone that I worked with.. and the food was soooo good.. the owner has since died and it's now some shish-ka-bob place and I will NEVER go there..

Pancho's Cantina in Island Park- I honestly eat there every chance I get. I love their food :) And their drinks are good too

i worked at manor east in massapequa for a few weeks over 10 yrs ago.
managers were not nice to the staff and let's just say when we were making the viennese table, they did not give us gloves and my bare (but clean) hands touched every cookie, etc...

I worked at Boulder Creek - I will still eat there but never ever ever use the steak sauce that they have on the table!!!  ask for A1 instead!

Red Lobster- very clean!!!
Bennigans- no longer exists but it was GROSS
Friendly's- not the best or the worst. A bunch of HS kids (including myself) ran the place.

LOVE that place!!!
Applebees- eh! Didnt think the staff and was wary of the food.
Bertuccis-LOVED the staff, had an open kitchen and I trust that!
I go by this...go to the bathroom. You'll get an impression there.

I've never worked in a restaurant but I have a friend who works for the Nassau County Department of health so I get all the "dirt," as it were, on restaurants around here. He won't eat at Jani (Chinese/Japanese) on Wantagh Ave. anymore, which breaks his little daughters' hearts - it was their favorite.
