If you failed your 1 hr gtt, but passed the 3hr...
Did your OB tell you that you're still at risk of having a large 10+ lb baby that won't be able to fit through your pelvis & that you should "be careful" or else "a C-Section [would] be imminent?"
I had my 30w appt last week & saw an OB in my practice that I hadn't seen yet this pg. I failed my 1 hr with a 160 (I think), but passed my 3 hour with "flying colors" & my results were "completely normal"...
- the baby's size has always measured on-target during sonos & his heart rate has always been normal - my bp is always normal (it was 108/64 that day) - my weight gain has only been 13 lbs. - and my fundal height is "right on target."
So basically, with the exception of failing the 1 hour, everything else has been PERFECT this entire pg...So WHY did the OB tell me these things & tell me to prepare for a possible C?!! Isn't that INSANE? I'm so nervous that she'll be on call when I go into labor now & that she'll try to force one on me even though I don't want one I'm going to discuss this with my regular OB at my next appt - this woman frightened me

I don't know why she would scare you like that. I failed the 1 hour and passed the 3 hour with my last pregnancy and current pregnancy. DS was right on target and born 7 lbs 1 oz. He wasn't a big baby at all even though my fundal height measured large. I wouldn't worry Maybe the growth sono will be more telling!

Eh- don't listen to her. I failed the one hour and passed the second and at 34 weeks baby is still measuring right on target. If you had GD I could see her warning you to be careful, but not since you passed it.

Not sure why your doctor would tell you that. Although I am sure every doctor could tell every pregnant woman that because I am sure there is always a chance that anyone could have a big baby.
I failed the 1 hour and passed the 3 hour and DS was 8 pounds, 7 ounces. Although the last ultrasound I had, they told me he was going to be over 9 pounds. Go figure!

Thanks so much for your replies ladies...
It was just so weird...she wasn't just giving me a "worst case scenario" though - she was so matter-of-fact. It was like she was warning me "your labor is probably going to be horrible, so be ready for me to do a C" even though there are no indicators that anything is "off." My dh thinks she's the Friday night doc & that she's preparing me so that she can "call a C" and get me out of there ASAP without running into her weekend...if that's true, that's so messed up!
