If you found a tick on your child and took it to the ped
Did they send it away for testing?
Freaking out here, found a tick on DD, don't feel like elaborating at the moment b/c I'm stressing about it, but we just got back from the ped and am curious.

Nephew had one. Yes they did sent it out and he needed bloodwork periodically for a period of time to check for lymes.

Re: If you found a tick on your child and took it to the ped
My sister found a tick on herself and she brought it in. She's not sure if they tested the tick, but they did do a blood test on my sister to see if she contracted lyme's disease.

Was it embedded?
Most likely she is fine, I have had so many embedded in me and I've never gotten lymes. My Dad had to BURN one out of my back when I was about 14

Re: If you found a tick on your child and took it to the ped
nope. we live in a heavily wooded area in CT. It's pretty common for us to pull a few ticks off throughout the summer. I pulled off like 5 last year off of myself and 1 off of Alexa.
It hadn't been on very long, wasn't even red when pulled off. We are just told to watch for a bulls eye rash...... Everyone's been fine...

My friend did. They did send it for testing but put her on an antibiotic immediately until the results came back.
If it was not engourged, you do not have to worry about Lyme disease. I can post the dozens of websites I've read up on ticks if you need them. We pulled (no exaggeration) 21 ticks off of our kids over Memorial Day weekend.

Re: If you found a tick on your child and took it to the ped
not a mom yet... but i live in a wooded area and pull a few off of myself every summer. in fact, last year i actually had lymes disease. I never even found the tick that bit me!! ... i just started getting a rash and a fever and very stiff neck. I wasn't even thinking lymes- i was thinking some kind of flu or something. went to the doctor. he looked at the rash adn right away said " its lymes". he did the blood test that day, but since it takes a few days to get the results back, he had me start on the antibiotics anyway, just in case. The sooner you start on the meds, the better. the test came back positive for lymes- basically i just took the anitibiotics for a month and i've been ok. just a little tired now and then. DH also had lymes and for him, he was just extremely tired and knew something was up. i would just keep an eye out- and if anything out of the ordniary starts happeneing, take her in right away- she'll be fine!

They will test to see what type of tick it is. Not everyone gets the bulls eye rash or symptoms right away. I would bring it in

I don't know if it was engorged...it wasn't flat, does that mean it was engorged?
