How is your child at the ped's office?
Because Jack completely loses it.
Our ped actually named him "CryBaby Centonze"
The SECOND I get him undressed he starts whimpering. Once he gets on the scale to get weighed - it's all over. Screaming, crying - on the top of his lungs. Bright red. It's awful.
I get if he was just crying after the shots - but it's basically the second we get into an exam room.
Is there anything I can do to make this more pleasant? His aunt (who he loves) even works there - and he still doesn't care.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
Lily is ok until she has to get on the scale to get weighed....she HATES to be on her back. HATES it. Screams like her arms are being ripped off. Once the doctor is done examining her, she's fine until the shots come - then she screams again....and is fine about a minute after they're done.
We bring lots of toys and snacks to distract her.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
They both cry hysterically the whole time. I can barely hear the doctor with one of them in the room, forget about any sort of conversation with both of them there.
One of the doctors said he was going to put a megaphone stamp on dd's chart to warn the other doctors how loud she is.

Everything you wrote, DS does! I even try bringing in books, but, DS is NOT having it.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
Christopher is fine
But my ped purposely does not give shots, he has the nurses do it so that the babies/kids do not associate him with the shots.

Your scenario seems eerily familiar...oh yeah...because we go through the same thing every single time. I have to strain to hear anything the doctor is saying. Hopefully it will pass soon!

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
Hows the Dr's personality? I think noah loves his Dr's so much thats why he is so calm. He hates being weighed and examined but he doesnt cry...hes usually too busy inbetween opening cabinets, climbing on the chairs and ripping the paintings off the wall
While we wait between nurse and Dr. I let him do almost whatever he wants within reason to keep him calm.
Sorry I have no magicial Advice

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
up until a month ago, the minute she would see a white coat come at her, she would be hysterical. So much so, that she would scream "I'm done" over and over and tell the doctors she was done. I never felt they could actually examine her because she would so hard to manage. Every trip was horrible. She would get so upset she would vomit. Just horrible.
Then we had a scare and had to go to the ER this past month. She was an angel, complete shocker to me. We have been to different doctors(for unrelated stuff) 3 different times since then and she was awesome!! I think it was a phase for DD.

Same with Hannah & our ped. Jack's only been there once or twice
However taking blood from Hannah is a NIGHTMARE ever since her 2 hospital stays and being poked for hours for IV's and blood

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
The screaming fits happen long before the dr. is even in the room! More like when I start undressing him.
Glad to know that I'm not the only one who deals with this (not that I want anyone else to have this issue but it's always nice to know we're not alone)
Even afterwards - we are down in my cousins office - I had to change his diaper - so I put him on a table to do it -- he was flipping out and it was just me and my cousin with him!

She actually loves it. Go figure. She actually will say "I think I need to go to the doctor, I have a little cough" then does this cough thing. Hmmmm maybe it's the stickers and lollipop.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
My son never cried at the doctor's office. He wouldn't even cry that much after a shot. He is 3 and knows that he will get a sticker when he gets there so he doesn't mind going. He even didn't really cry after getting blood taken! He is alot like me!

This is exactly how my DS is. Ironically, my DD never cried until she got the shot.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
She has good visits and bad visits. This past one was bad, she didn't want him listening to her heart.
Then the ears adn throat and then the shots. oh, the shots!
But she was fine a few minutes later.
We have to go tomorrow for the MMR and chicken pox shots. pray for us.

Ryan: He knows something is up, but generally is good, untill he has to get a shot. He gets all nervous while in the room.
Erin: the MINUTE anyone besides me is touching her or comes into her personal space, she FREAKS. Then, when they stop or leave, she is fine.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
For some strange reason, Ds loves the doctor. He plays in the waiting area and never fusses to go into the office. It's funny actually, if he gets the smallest boo boo he asks to see Dr. Newman!

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
he really likes the drs...
I think he feels like he is on a playdate at the waiting area..
then he is in awe that the nurse knows his name.
He spends the entire time climbing off and on the table...
