If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
I'm having a scheduled c-section on 12/12. I am having THE worst time trying to find a plus-size nursing nightgown or anything that will work for the hospital.
I think I remember hearing that it's best to stick to a nightgown and not bother with PJ pants because they are constantly coming in to check your incision. True?
I would be much more comfortable in a pajama set that has a button-down front, but between the incision and a ruptured disc in my back, pulling my pants back up after using the bathroom will most likely prove to be difficult...
Thanks for your help!

Re: If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
I have back problems, but not severe ones and I had PJ pants. I felt more comfortable in them as opposed to a nightgown. My PJ pants were no where near my incision. I was pulling my underwear down anyway so it wasn't too much more to pull down pants as well.

I could not take strong pain killers due to my intolerance for them.
I could not lift my legs up due to the pain.
I stayed in the hospital gown for 3 days. I only wore pants on my last day. Drawsting pants.

I just stayed in hospital gowns. I didn't see the point of getting anything I would have to wash dirty.

I wore nursing night gown the day after my c-section, then PJs with drawstrings, and my 3rd day sweats and a t-shirt.
They do come in alot to check your incision but it isnt a big deal. Just make sure that anything you were has a high waist band. You dont want anything near your incision.

i wore the hospital gown for the first night and then I changed into a really cute PJ set that I got. The shirt was a button down and worked great when I was nursing

Re: If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
I bought light pajama pants - and granny panties that went way over my incision. You have the bandage, then the panties over it, then drawstring pj pants that you can have sit low - you should be fine!!!
good luck! Can't wait to see your little one!!!

Re: If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
I was in the hospital gown the first day but then after I was able to get up and put pj's on, I wore nursing pj's from Motherhood. They were pants.
It wasn't too big a pain, because I actually just had to pull them down a bit for them to check the incision. I knew I wouldn't be comfortable in a nightgown since that is never what I wear.

Re: If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
I had a c-section and am very plus sized.
I wore the bospital gown for the first 24 hrs. Honestly I was so groggy from the spinal that I wasn't yet ready to get changed. After the first 24 hours I showered and changed into a comfy t-shirt and loose cotton PJ pants and that was fine.

I didnt even THINK to get out of that gown till day 3 when I was finally allowed to shower. And I put on Pull on pants...So they just lowered them to check. HTH.

Didn't have a C Section but did you check Wal-mart? They have a lot of plus size nightgowns that would unbutton in the front for nursing. I never used a nursing gown with DD, just things that unbuttoned in the front.

Re: If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
First two nights I wore the hospital gown (the first night I didn't get into the room until 2am).
After that I wore maternity clothes - sweatpants and a tank top.
It wasn't a problem when they checked the incision. Your comfort is much more important than the few minutes they spend checking it out.
Good luck!

I wore pants and I usually wore a button down shirt. I would not have been comfortable in front of my visitors unless I had pants on.

They check your incision everyday, but for that reason I liked wearing pajama pants. Instead of hiking my nightgown up...I would just pull down my PJ pants a little to expose my incision.

Re: If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
I got two from motherhood at the source and bought one online from them - they had plus size when I had DD so I assume they still have them (One came with a robe).
Honestly though for a short time I stayed in the hospital gown - in fact the nurses encouraged me to stay in their gown. I had no problems BF DD in either the hospital or my own gowns.
Honestly you don't need a nursing gown try to find one that unbuttons of have a low neck. I wasn't comfortable in pants but others I know where.
I found this place a few months after DD you could try them:

Re: If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
I wore a nightgown and it worked out great but this time I am having the baby in the winter and I am going to wear sweats. The hospital is way too cold in the winter for a nightgown.

I wore a regular night gown the whole time with the exception of the last day. IMO...its alot easier and you are bleeding like you have your period but continuous. i would have hated he up/down/up/down with the pants.

Re: If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
I always wore pj's, I'm not a night gown person and it was never a problem at all I'll be doing the same this time....As for night gowns, more or less anything button down or zipper down would work fine for nursing- Some people keep the hospital gowns on ( not my thing though) , and they aren't button or zipper down, so you can make anythin work really if you cover up for privacy.

Re: If you had a c-section, can you please answer a ? for me
I think you should bring BOTH a nightgown and PJ set just in case because I had a drain in and wasn't allowed to wear PJ pants. After I showered, it was nice to put on my own nightgown.
As for finding a nightgown, I bought 2 of them from Old Navy in a larger size that were perfect.
