If you had DC after age 35, did you have fertility help?

Most of my friends do not yet have kids. Some were saying they may freeze some eggs. I said that probably isn't necessary since I constantly meet moms who had kids in their mid-late 30's who got pregnant naturally.

I was 38 when I conceived. 2nd month trying, 1st month using opk. I don't think there was any problems.

We conceived DC #1 (DD) at 34 - 2nd month trying 1st month using OPKS
We conceived DC #2 at 36 - 2nd month trying 1st month using OPKS

I did not need fertility treatments and got pregnant pretty easily.

However, if one really wants a baby and is planning on starting after 35, I wouldn't assume it will be easy to get pregnant.

I had DS at 38. I had IUIs with no success and was about to start IVF when I got PG on my own. I was very lucky and will need fertility treatments for the next one

I am 36 and I have been TTC #2 for two years both on my own and with IF treatments and I am unfortunately having a very hard time. Failed IUI's, miscarriages, irregular cycles, etc............all very frustrating. I know age is not the only factor but I think it contributes to my difficulties.

I had 3 kids in my 30's. First 2 - I had no issues conceiving - took about 3-4 mos of letting nature take it's course. I was between 30-34 with those 2. The third took almost 10 mos of trying and used ovulation kits and started a monitor at the end but eventually it happened. It was my only kid who I had over 35 but I am not sure that was 100% the reason it took so long.

with DS i was 32 and he was a clomid baby.

with DD, i was 35 and all i used was OPK, first month got the BFP

Yes, but I needed help starting before that age too. We started fertility treatments when I was 32 after trying for a year on our own.

Had my first DS when I was 38 with no help (but it took me 2 years to conceive)


Had my 2nd DS at 42 with IVF

I had two babies over age 35 with no medical intervention.

I got pregnant with #1 at age 35. I went off the Pill after being on it for over 10 years. I got pregnant first month after stopping it.

I got pregnant with #2 at age 37. This happened after 3 months of trying using the CBEFM and OPK's.

I was very lucky to be able to conceive easily at my age. I didn't get married until I was 34.

With DS, I was 33 when I conceived, 34 when delivered and I needed clomid.

With DC #2, I was 2 months shy of 36 when I got pregnant and didn't need any fertility help.

No, I was 41 when Ann was conceived.

Our DD is the result of our 5th IVF when I was turing 43.

My friend at work is pregnant at 41 and single with an oops baby. Another good friend is also 43 and starting IVF after unsuccessful cycles with clomid and IUIs. Finally, my other good friend got pregnant on HM with her first at 40 and was pregnant again a year later with her 2nd with no help. If I had the chance again I would not wait so long after getting married to TTC.

Needed help with #1 before age 35. Trying 3 years and counting with #2. I'm 36.

I got pregnant at 35 and delivered at 36.
I did not need any help at all.
In fact, I got pregnant on the first try just using an OPK

And I know people much younger than me who have fertility issues. So age is not the only factor

Pregnant with DD#1 at 33 on first try.

Pregnant with DC#2 at 35 and will deliver at 36 on first try.

Freezing eggs is a rather new procedure. The eggs are much more fragile then embryos. They encourage you to do a few rounds. NYU has a known egg freezing program but many fertility clinics don't even freeze eggs. I had a friend who did this. She did get some compensation from her insurance I believe but I know she spent a lot of money.

Freezing the egg really doesn't ensure much. It's a great option for someone who is going to undergo something invasive like chemo. However, getting pregnant and staying pregnant is sometimes more of an issue in older woman because of their immune system rather than their actual "eggs". (of course this can be an issue in a younger female as well). Actually getting an embryo to implant and to be nourished correctly has a lot to do with the immune system. Fertilization is usually one of the easiest things to accomplish.

Many older women have no problem ovulating, especially with the help of fertility meds, they can have as great as an output as a younger female. If they are going to freeze eggs, they would have to undergo the same fertility meds.

Personally, I wouldn't spend that money, it's not really much of an insurance policy, unless they actually create "embryos" and then they would need sperm :) If they are married and just not ready yet to have kids, that's more of an option.

I had a very difficult time conceiving my twins, but with fertility treatment it finally worked. However, I conceived my ds easily, without any help. (first try) at 41.

No. First one was concieved a month before i turned 35, second one was conceived right before i turned 39.

First time got preggo on first try....second time had miscarriage then then got pregnant on the 3rd cycle of trying.

I was under 32 when I was trying to get pg and ended up doing IVF at 34 and thankfully got pg the first time.

Im turning 36 next month and just found out that I am PG on my own...DD is only 6months!

DS was conceived when I was 35 - no help, no OPK's - third month of trying.

Nope no issues here I was one month shy of turning 35 when I had my dd. And was 36 when i had my ds. Both times took me under 3 months to conceive.
