Re: If you had the choice....
same here I would love to but its not feasible right now (money wise) In about 1 1/2 - 2 years when DH becomes a manager of his own branch, we might be able to swing it

Re: If you had the choice....
I am and I can't imagine ever going back to work. Some months have been tight, but we just make sacrifices to make it work.

Re: If you had the choice....
I would like to but we just can't do that right now. Also, I have to admit... I am not sure how I would do with a baby 24/7 and hardly any adult contact.

Re: If you had the choice....
I was a full time worker, then went on maternity leave. Then I quit, because I couldn't leave DD. I stayed home for 2 1/2 years. The more independent she got, I started to get a little bored. I went back to work 3 days for the past year.
That was the best situation for me, by far. Still home with DD 2 week days and 2 weekend days, but get out for work 3 days... best of both worlds.
Now I am almost 9 weeks pg with our second and final dc, and I am sooo sick, that I had to resign.
In the future, I will def go back 3 days a week....

Re: If you had the choice....
I'm very lucky we had the choice I could be a SAHM, however looking back I do wish I kept my career and worked a couple days a week.

Re: If you had the choice....
My last day of work is 2/29 and then I'll be a SAHM to my twins. We just don't believe in daycare and knew this since we met. So we planned as much as possible for me to be a SAHM. I've worked forever, sometimes even two jobs, but I feel it was such a journey for us to get here that I want to see every little moment of my babies lives. I will go back to work some day, but definitely not what I'm doing now. It will be to something I enjoy regardless of how the pay is. Sacrafice is key here, but so worth it. Even if people wanted to have a honeymoon baby, they could still plan on being a SAHM beforehand so they could have the best of both worlds, it just takes discipline (savings).

Re: If you had the choice....
I don't think i could do it.
I am just one of those people who has to be on the go and i get stir crazy when i'm in the house all day. I'm sure when we have a 2nd or 3rd, i will be a SAHM.
I guess if i could work part time, i would. But i definitely wouldn't be able to be a SAHM.

Re: If you had the choice....
i'll be doing 3 days a week, i think that will be good for me...I'm sure i'll LOVE being with my baby boy, but i think i'm the type that will need the adult interaction. Plus i've been working for the last 12 years, can't imagine not going back.

Re: If you had the choice....
I would LOVE to!! That is what we both have always wanted when we have children. Right now I teach in the city and live out in Stony Brook so it's a ridiculous commute. I am going to finish out the year and when the baby comes in Sept. I am not going back. Once the baby is a few months old I may try watching another child or two in my home so that I can be home with my baby all of the time but also have money and NOT have to drive to Queens every day. We'll see how it all goes!!

I would love to stay home, but if I do, we won't be able to buy a bigger home. I'll see how I feel once baby comes

Re: If you had the choice....
I think it would be ideal to work part time. We'll see how ti goes. Daycare is so expensive, it might work out the same whether I work a few days or full time.

Re: If you had the choice....
Nope. I have the choice, but I would not.
Ultimately, I would like to find an ideal P/T job. That would make me the happiest.
