If you have 2 young dogs close in age...
does the younger dog "nibble" on the other dog? My 1 year old constantly nibbles/bites on my 3 year old (it doesn't happen vice versa). We thought he would grow out of it as he got older but he does it all the time. The older dog doesn't seem to mind it at all. It seems like the 1 year old is trying to get his attention at times. They play really well together. Thoughts?

Re: If you have 2 young dogs close in age...
We have 2 dogs, 4 and almost 2. They VERY OFTEN will wrestle/bite/nip each other, but it's all in fun. They love to roll around together and chew on each other's ears and legs and faces lol. The younger one definitely wants to play more often than the older one, so when she wants to play, she'll nudge her a little and "air bite" at her and then start barking at her if she doesn't respond.

Yes our younger dog is 3 1/2 (female)and the older is almost 5 (male), the younger is always nipping at the older one. I think it's her way of getting his attention to play and it's totally normal. Other people get upset like she is always bothering but when he's had enough he lets her know and she stops.

Mine are a year apart. They do this to each other. Mostly my female gets my male and he seems to enjoy it.

Yup, it's an invitation to play. Sometimes in Brinkley's case, a demand. He will grab Ginger's upper lip and then sloooooowly lay down on the floor to make her come down to his level.
Four months of rough play and there has never been a scratch on either one of them. It's amazing how gentle they can be when it looks like they're hurting each other!

Yes! Our 2 yo is forever nipping at my 4 yo's legs, ears, neck. He's a little bully! But our 4 yo plays back. Sometimes he's had enough and the little guy gets the hint!

My two do this all the time. Tiberius is a 45 pound coonhound, he puts his whole mouth around Ginger's neck... Ginger is a 10 pound chihuahua, she jumps at his face and bites his gum flap/ears/knees... then she goes and licks his you-know-what and they lick each other's noses and the rough play is over. I feel like I live in a very dysfunctional puppy house!! (She is almost 3, he is 1 yr 3 months)
