What age did you give DC hot dogs??
Just curious. DD is one and her day care provides meals. I told them she is not to ever have hot dogs and they looked at me like I was a bit crazy. Let alone the fact I don't think they are good for her...I think at her age they are a total choking hazard.

I am debating whether or not to let daycare give them to DS. He is also one, and I am assuming they would cut it up small enough for him to eat, I just don't really want him having all the nitrates and preservatives. Our daycare only gives them to the kids once a month, though, so I may just go along with it.
Our daycare has an alternative sandwich when they have hotdogs or fishsticks - can you ask about that?

DS#1 didn't have them until he was almost 3
DS#2 had them around 18 months. I pretty much dice his really small. Earlier that I planned but it's sometimes too much of a PITA to prepare 2 different meals.

aly is 2.5 yrs old. I let her try it at age 2 but she didnt really like it and hasnt had it since.

I didn't give them till DS was nearly 2. I'll probably give them sooner to the new baby, but only if they're chopped up very well, and also if they're the more "natural" nitrate-free kind, like from Whole Foods or Trader Joes'. I wouldn't feel confident about daycare even cutting them to my liking, never mind using the premium hotdogs, so if it were me I would have said NO to them too.

for me, it will be very late...... mainly because of the additives and mystery meat factor.... even the nitrate free all beef ones are like;y made from off cuts of meat 
same category as mc nuggets, KWIM?

DS was 9 months when he had his first. I cut it up in to small pieces and take the skin off. I buy the turkey dogs.

JMO but I don't feed DS hot dogs (he does not eat meat yet) and I am not sure I would love daycare feeding hot dogs b/c of the choking risk as well.
Bottom line, you are the parent not them. You pay them. They can do what you say and without the weird looks.
