Re: If you have a boy....
I have to chime in here..
When people say there are no benefits to circumcision, they are wrong. Read up on the benefits before you decide for or against.
I watched Dr. Oz discuss at length the pros to circumcising...it was very interesting. And he says its simply not true that you lose feeling or feelings aren't as intense...
I know Dr. Oz isn't the end all be all doctor, but I found that particular show so interesting.
We circumcised both boys and we were very happy with our decision.

that's the most important thing in the end... we did not circumcised our boys and are happy with the decision as well, you do whatever you are comfortable with...

Re: If you have a boy....
Yup. We are both Jewish.
I've said it before and I will say it again. I know enough Jewish (and not Jewish) men who have been circumcised and not ONE of them is resentful for the choice their culture (or parents) made for them. The idea that they lack sensation is just silly. They don't know any different. I can assure you that Jewish men can find pleasure in sex as much as any uncircumsized man. Yeesh.
If you wanna do it. Do it. If you don't don't.

DH is not... and believes that it adds to sexual pleasure. He thinks it would be terrible to take that away from the kid.

Re: If you have a boy....
We had a Bris for our DS....I am Jewish, DH is not...the only discussion we had was "who/where" will it get done.
But a little side note. My DH was born extremely premature and lost his twin brother shortly after their birth. My MIL didn't want to inflict anymore pain/discomfort on my DH (her newborn), so she decided not to have him circumsized. When DS was in the 4th grade it was his decision to have it done....and couldn't be happier!

If we do have a boy we are definitely doing it.. We are staying team
I think its an individual preference (and/ or religion).. At times it can be a sensitive subject for others. I'll just feel super ubber bad the first day!

I have quite a few friends with boys who have told me HORROR stories about what has happened to their sons after a bad circumcision, not to mention it's not medically necessary.
Me too.....((shivers))
while I am sure there are some doctors not 100% qualified, I used a pediatric urologist with my ds and his circ was PERFECT, no issues at all
I would recommend everyone find a QUALIFIED doctor (urologist, if possible) to do the circ

to answer my own poll, DH and I have talked about it and I'm almost 100% sure we won't.
I have quite a few friends with boys who have told me HORROR stories about what has happened to their sons after a bad circumcision, not to mention it's not medically necessary.
ETA we're also team
we're also and I am terrified of doing it and have not been able to find any research on why we would need to- yet we are still up in the air because its more a custom thing in this country and I dont want our son to feel weird someday
That was DH's issue since he is uncircumcized. But I told him if we do have a son who is left intact we will make sure he knows that there is NOTHING wrong with him just b/c he was left the way he was born.
And honestly after being with cut and uncut men I would pick DH any day!
Agreed, we found out we will be having a , my hubby is uncut, and we don't think its medically necessary, however my fam is pressuring us to have him circumsized... bc nowadays it is the norm...

Re: If you have a boy....
my european family is not into this but the way I look at it is this...if daddy is then son should be...a litle boy may go to daddy with "questions" and I think they should have the same thing :) So...our sone will be :)
