If you have a grandparent who lives nearby and have 2 children do they have a carseat for both kids?

i only have one right now - but they just take my car.

I can't see them crowding their own car w/ 2 carseats - especially if they're not regularly driving the kdis around

I'm not a mommy yet but I will be in a few weeks....

My parents live up the block from us and they will be taking care of my LO when I go back to work. Though I would feel better with them havinga car seat, my mom doesn't want the responsibility of driving a car with a child in it. She's a nervour driver to begin with. We are going to get a car seat for my dad's car in case of emergency and that's all. I also work 10 minutes from home and DH works from home several days a week so I don't think the car seats are a real necessity.

Right now my mom has extra bases for their infant seats but I am sure we will end up getting her regular car seats for her car once they are in them. My MIL has no seats in her car, I can't see her ever needing them for us.

My mother had 2 seats that my sister bought her for her to use when she took her two kids someplace (or picked them up from daycare in an emergency etc).

Can't imagine making someone buy a car seat unless they purchased a heavily discounted used one.

It isn't a money issue - we offered to buy them the seat (I would never say to them you need a seat go buy one - but they said no) - in fact they bought us the car seats we are using now.

Is it more the issue of that she doesn't feel confortable with the 2 kids by herself?

Nope - she watches them both alone when she wants to. It is more that she thinks it is nicer to spend time one on one with them - and this way I can spend some time alone with the other - but it ends up that she ONLY takes my older DD which was fine when DD#2 was a baby and didn't know better - but DD#2 is very verbal and gets VERY excited when grandma comes over - so you can imagine how upset she is when grandma leaves with DD#1.

your saying shes not acting as your daycare?

i dont mean to sound stupid but why does she NEED to have carseats? i think maybe im miss understanding.

abby has 2 sets of grandparents that live within a mile and a half of our home and not one of them has a carseat... theres just no need for it if they arent watching her IMO. IF they are watching her i either leave my car so they have a carseat or i will place our seat into their car.

I guess my thing isn't that she doesn't have 2 seats - b.c I can understand that - BUT the fact is she doesn't have 2 seats and she won't take MY car - so she can only take my older daughter b.c DD#2 isn't in a forward facing seat and then the straps would be different anyway (btw these girls are her ONLY grandchildren I'm an only child). So it puts me in an uncomfortable situation - and I've tried to talk to her about it - but I just get no one else does that and I'm asking too much of her (BTW I never ask her to take EITHER child she asks me). She keeps saying that DD#2 is too young to understand and DD#1 needs more special alone time.

Yes, but I think the key there is she will drive YOUR car - my mom won't take my car - I offer each and every time. If yours won't take your car would you want them to have 2 seats?

When they watch the girl's at their home for something like date night - we leave our car in case there is an emergency but they usually DON'T drive it. Although I have absolutely no problem with them doing so.

Etd to add my mom takes my older DD out 3-4 days a week after she gets home from work for 1-2 hours. So it isn't an occasional thing.
