If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
Where did they sleep? My DS sleeps in his bassinet. I start off the night putting him to bed on his back. The head of the bassinet is raised up. After his middle of the night feeding, he seems very uncomfortable on his back. Sometimes he scares the cr#$ out of us and has a choking fit. I have been sleeping with him on my chest, because I'm scared to put him down. I was thinking of putting his bouncer in his bassinet and having him sleep in that. What do you think?

Re: If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
My baby slept in his infant carrier the first three months of his life- including overnight.
My pediatrician was fine with this- but I know other people say this was not good for him. But he suffered no ill effects as a result, and it was so nice to see him comfortable and peaceful and getting his rest. He used to wake up screaming on his back.
My friend's baby slept in bouncy on the floor next to her parents' bed.

Re: If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
We did the elevated mattress, but it didn't work for Ava. She slept in the swing for a few weeks, then in the bouncy seat, but by 5 weeks old, we decided to put her on her belly, but she had exceptionally good head control. It made me nervous at first, but she was a much happier baby after.

Re: If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
DS spent the first five months sleeping in his Fisher Price rocker, swing, infant carrier or bouncy. He slept better and as a result I slept better! The ped didn't have a problem with us doing it and encouraged us to have him sleep upright.
After a few months I let him nap on his back in his PNP and I would keep an eye on him to see if he was comfortable or not. Eventually, I was able to transfer him to his crib when he outgrew his reflux.

We elevated the mattress, but he always rolled off of it LOL. He slept most of the day in his swing, but at night he did ok his crib on his back.

Re: If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
The first 2-3 wks - the car seat and on us. Honestly, he wouldn't sleep much at all otherwise and not much at all in these things either during that time. THen we put the positioner in the bassinet and it was a godsend. Even when we moved him in the crib we used the positioner - we used it for a long time - it had an incline and it worked amazing! Good luck!
ETA: The ped actually recc that we use the positioner with the incline HTH!

Whenever DS was having a difficult night with his reflux we would either put him in his bouncy seat or he would wind up sleeping one of us.

Re: If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
He sleeps propped on the boppy pillow. At least that's how he starts out. We basically end up with him next to me boob in mouth all night long in order for us to get even a little bit of sleep. Needless to say. I'm exhausted. Tonight at 4.5 months we're trying him on his back in the pack n play. We'll see how it goes. I'm not hopeful.

Re: If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
DD sleeps in bouncy seat most of the time. Usually after her middle of the night feeding, I will put her in her bassinet, but only after she has been upright on my chest for at least 15 minutes to digest. The bouncy seat is the best for her, though!

Re: If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
My DS had very severe reflux. He napped in his bouncy sometimes but he really did not seem a lot worse on his back. He was able to sleep in his crib or bassinet without elevating anything. This was with reflux meds, though. I would only use a bouncy on the ground.

Re: If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
He sleeps in bed with us. We've tried propping up the crib mattress, using the sleep positioner, etc to get him in the crib, but we gave up after almost of week of sleepless nights. He sleeps much better in our arms.

Re: If you have/had a baby with acid reflux, I have a question?
Thanks!! Last night he started out in his bassinett on his back and was fine. He stayed their for about 3 hours, and then woke up to eat. After that, I couldn't put him back down. I tried the bouncer which he likes during the day, but hated at night. He slept on my chest the rest of the night. I hate reflux!!!

We have a positioner with an incline, but have not used it. I heard so many people say it was not safe. I think I may try it tonight and see how it goes.
