If you have young children and an inground pool...
What type of fence do you have around your pool? What company did you use and approx. how much did it cost?
This is the first summer my DS is able to walk and I'm so nervous having a pool. We plan on leaving it covered when we aren't using it (we have a mechanical cover), but I still want to do something else.
This is what our backyard looks like, so I'm not sure what our options were.
Thank you!

Although we had a temporary above ground pool, we kept a floating pool alarm with an alert that's heard/plugged-in in the house when the pool was not in use.

We have an above ground pool but its fenced and we also have an alarm. We have a 4ft white vinyl picket fence. The bad side of the fence faces into the pool so its less likely to be climbed. The gate also will close and lock behind each person.

Get a Baby Loc fence around it. My husband's pool company installs them all the time as they are the most trusted thing.

Re: If you have young children and an inground pool...
We have a fence around the pool, can't remember the name of it, but its a mesh type pool fence. We have an alarm in the actual pool that goes off when water is dispersed, we have an alarm on the gate of the fence leading to the pool and we have an alarm on the door in my family room that leads to my backyard. The alarms get annoying when people are over, b/c people are in and out of the pool area but that is when an accident is most likely to happen-when everyone is there thinking someone else is watching the kids.

Re: If you have young children and an inground pool...
We have a safety fence around the whole pool. I didn't put the alarm in bc we have a waterfall so it would contently go off. I am always outside with the boys and they are supervised anyway, but I do it for myself mainly bc on days we don't use the pool and its open I know just messing around they can't get close. They are 4 and 2. I also do swim lessons with my 4 yr old. I tried with my 2 yr old but he hated it and wanted nothing to do with the class. I will try again now that he's a little older in the Spring. Do some research on safety fence companies. I did a lot of research, got quotes, and had a few guys over to discuss. Good luck
I'm on the iPhone so can't post but there's a pic of it in my misc pics.

Thank you for sharing the pic. Do you find the fence makes it hard to use the pool, especially when you have company over? Do you have any recommendations?

This is exactly my concern- when other people are over and we have the pool cover open. I was thinking about the mesh pool fence. Is it removeable? Easy to access the pool (for adults).
Thank you!

We did it a couple of years ago so just have to remember the name. Ill look for the bill tomorrow and let you know. The guy that installed it also said he's done work for that show that flips houses for families in need. Sorry, Monday night brain. Not thinking straight and cabin fever. Lol Anyway, no issues with company bc you can open up certain sections. If its a play date with young kids I just open it by the stairs in the shallow end since the kids and moms don't go that far in. Also one step is big so the kids play there bc they can stand with their puddle jumper of course. With more pple we've opened a big section by steps and diving board or just remove part of the fence. Lots of options. They drill holes in the deck so when you open it you can put part of the fence in to hold it. There are plugs for the holes too and a 5 yr warranty.
ETA picture so you can see it doesn't look bad at all and you can also see where there are hooks and fastens for spots to easily open it. DH opens the section also when we clean it or to just have a space to open to put the robot in to clean. Call a few places. I take the fence down in the winter when we cover the pool. As a PP said it is really easy to remove and put up.Image Attachment(s):

Re: If you have young children and an inground pool...
I have a black estate fence around my pool. But my pool is set back from my house. We also have an alarm
We have chairs and a pool shed in the fenced area, so it's a nice hang out place. The gate locks and opens from the top, I barely can open it. It was about $2k...for two sides (the other two sides are my regular fence for my yard)

Re: If you have young children and an inground pool...
We do not have a fence around the pool but I have been to people's houses with the mesh fence and it is easy to use as a guest.
We looked into Guardian and for our size pool then it was around $3000.

Re: If you have young children and an inground pool...
We are getting our pool installed once the weather breaks. We are getting a mesh pool fence with the autoclose gates. They are super safe (my parent's had them), they don't look terrible and they are 100% removable when the kids are older, or if you just want to take it down for a party or something. You can take the whole thing down in minutes and put it right back up. And the auto-close gate makes it simple to get in and out of the pool area!
I'll send you the info and the pricining! We used this company for gates in our house and they were great.

Re: If you have young children and an inground pool...
i have a black aluminum fence. the kids cant climb it or knock it down, plus its really pretty. i wanted something permanent bc i will never take it down since we entertain alot in the summer and will always have little kids over our house (i dont want to be that house that people dont like to bring their kids to bc of safety). we also have locks on the gates to get into the pool area.
its expensive, but worth it to me.

It is easy to use as a guest, what makes it more difficult at my house is we have an alarm on the gate of the fence-which everyone always sets off trying to get in and out! :) The fence itself can be taken down easily if need be.

Same here we got black aluminum fence. Felt it was the safest and best looking.
