our store specifically is closing as well as a few others. there used to be 250 stores, now there's 195. we just arent busy anymore

the company itself found out thursday and they called an emergency meeting for us this morning at 10. we all celebrated at cozy mels next door with margaritas haha.

honestly, with the economic drop, how many restaurants there are in the area, it was bound to happen. ***** for some people but alot of us are happy. it gave us a push to get a new job

Seriously? Every time I have gone there on a weekend it has been packed, so I turn around and walk out.

not sure what's going in its place. I was surprised they even gave us 2 weeks but they are giving us money to stay the whole 2 weeks, are offering more money an hour to help them clean and pack stuff up and are having a "job fair" for us. they're getting the other restaurants involved and are going to have the gm's interview us for employment. they're doing it the right way. I know I'm not walking out before the 2 weeks. who knows about anyone else.

I'm probably moving to forest hills in 2 weeks so I guess it's a good thing. Austin street is right down the block from the apartment so there's a ton of restaurants to go to. or just go to the city.

for the people that DO like MG. i hope you enjoy it as much as you can. Besides a few bumps in the road, it was a great place to work

It scares me that a lot of huge chain resteraunts are cutting back you know when hospitality profits go down that the economy is not good. People get nervous and dinner and movies are first to get cut from the family budget.
I sure hope consumer confidence pics up soon.

I'm surpised. I wasn't a fan, but there was often a long wait! We also had crazy bad service, which I gather has been a source of conflict on the boards

I'm sorry to say I'm not too surprised. DH and I met working there back in 1997 - he started there when they first opened - he worked there for about 2 years - I only worked there for about 6 months. Back then the food was much better and it was always 2+ hour waits - but then the kitchen was always crashing and we couldn't get our food out. There was a huge turnover a few years after we left.

We haven't been too much since they totally redesigned the place. Maybe we will go one more time before they close.

What date are they closing?

close date as of right now is March 17th.. but it's open until 3pm that day.

the kitchen crashes alot but i guess whatever. it's bittersweet. i love the people i work with but we all wanted to leave for awhile.
