If you rented a tent for a backyard party...

Did you do it in advance or wait until the last minute to see what the weather would be? I'm now thinking of making DS's 1st birthday party in my backyard. But it will be in the middle of October. I'm going to have about 100 people so I can't fit everyone in my house if it rains or it's too cold. Has anyone else ran this risk? I'd rather not spend $400 on a tent and not end up needing to use it. TIA!

I would call the tent company and ask them what is the latest notice they need and hold out.

I rented one for my baby shower and it rained and NO ONE went outside. I had 60 odd people in my house and $400 in tents tables and chairs sitting unused in my water logged yard.

I think we are doing the same day and I am not renting one at all. I MAY purchase some outdoor heating lamps. MAY. but never again with the tent for weather...maybe if I do a fancy shindig for effect. but not for weather.

I rented one for Jack's 1st Birthday mainly because it's in June and I have no shade in my yard.

I am still so torn on what to do about Tyler (we are having his on Oct 2nd)

ETA: I do think I'll be renting the tables and chairs so I will talk to the guy about last minute adding a tent I guess.

DS's b-day is in September. I am not renting a tent. I've done it in the past and honestly dont feel like spending the extra money. I go to everyone else's parties outdoors in the summer and NEVER has there been a tent.
