Good question. I remember having a co-worker who moved from Puerto Rico to New York. Her daughter spoke in her sleep and the mom noticed that the talk eventually changed from Spanish to English. Her daughter was about 7 at the time of the move and the talking changed a few months later.

I had dreams in Spanish when I was immersed in trying to learn it. It happened randomly. Now I am not even fluent b/c it has been so long since I have used the language Chat Icon .

when I went to school in Germany, I was speaking fluently, but I dreamed mostly in English.

DH's first language is Spanish, but English is now his dominant and he dreams in English (he still uses his Spanish daily though)

My first language is English, I'm fluent in Spanish. I dream mostly in English but occassionally in Spanish. When I lived in Spain I dreamed more in Spanish.

English most of the time. Occasionally a German word will pop up.

When I was living there, it happened more. I'll see what happens when I go to live there for a second time.

I mostly dream in English but I guess it depends on who is in my dream with me. If I am talking to my mother or my grandmother in my dream then that conversation would be in Spanish. KWIM?

My inner monologue is always in English.

my first language is spanish and I always dream and inner monologue was in spanish, but all this change when I start going out with DH. Even though he know spanish all of our conversations are in english and most of my dreams are in english.. The only time that spanish come out naturally now is when I am talking to my family or when I'm mad.

Interesting question. My first language is Russian but I have live in USA for more than half my life.

I would think it depends on what I am dreaming about-I find it that even in my dreams I always use whatever language is appropriate in the situation. Chat Icon Somehow I know who would and wouldn't understand each language.

I do know what if I wake up from a bad dream I scream out about whatever scared me in English. Like when I had a dream about someone breaking into a car I woke up screaming "Alarm, alarm!"

English is my main language, I probably don't even use Italian daily. But randomly, in my dreams, people who DON'T speak Italian, only speak it in the dream LOL

Native language is French.

Think and dream in English. Will dream in French if I dream about my family.
