about 4-5 hours - we had movers though and it took about 45 minutes to get from the apt to the house.

Re: If you went from an apt to a house how long was the moving process

I did that recently

the movers still took their time b/c they get paid by the hour

I spent 4 nights making 2 trips in my SUV and the movers still took 7 hours to move the rest of my stuff

which was 90 minutes less then when they moved everything the year before

I wont recommend them

Re: If you went from an apt to a house how long was the moving process

We took out time, so it's not really accurate. We closed on June 25 and moved in fully (furniture) on July 14. We had our apartment through July, so each time we went to the house to do work, we would load up the car with boxes and stuff.

We moved the furniture ourselves in about 2 hours - we just rented a truck, didn't see the need to hire people to do that for us. Chat Icon (we didn't really have that much furniture, though)

It's not the moving that is hard it's all the unpacking after. We still have to find homes for all our stuff.
Best of luck to you!!!!!!Chat Icon

It took us about six hours to do the move. We rented a truck and had friends help us. We started around 10 a.m. and finished somewhere around 4 p.m. - two trips with a 16 foot truck.

ITA!

It probably took us 6hrs in total but, it was spread out. We did everything ourselves (DH did the big stuff with the help of a bunch of his friends from work).

With the smaller stuff, he and I just made a bunch of trips as soon as we were able to - starting with the things we didn't really need.

We took stuff back and forth in our cars for about a week. Then it took us all day on a Saturday to move the big things but we did it all ourself with the help of some friends.

We got a group of friends/family together and had pizza and beer waiting at the new house Chat Icon

The entire process took about 5 hours - but we were totally packed up before everyone got there Chat Icon

Re: If you went from an apt to a house how long was the moving process

We closed and did not move in for at least a week or two after because we were getting the house painted. In that time we moved as much as we could over to the house and put it away.

On moving day, we only had the furniture to bring over and we rented a truck for that and did it ourselves with some friends help. The whole process took only 3-4 hours between loading, driving to the new house and un-loading.

Re: If you went from an apt to a house how long was the moving process

It took us about 3 hours beginning to end. We started at 10am and by 1pm I out buying pizza and beer.

We moved from Hauppauge to Holbrook.

We rented a huge truck from Budget and DH asked 9 guys from his job to help us. This was everything boxes, clothes and furniture.

Re: If you went from an apt to a house how long was the moving process

We did everything ourselves. We knew we would be looking so we started packing non-essential items months before. Which was great because you should purge things you no longer need during that process so you're not moving crap you're just going to throw away.

We rented a Pod and had it at the apartment for a week so we could do it after work, gradually. We even moved the big stuff ourselves - couch, beds, desks, kitchen furniture. I had to take the front door off the hinge in order to get the couch out though. Chat Icon

Love my Mikita drill. It was a lifesaver.

We both used some days off for the move too which was also a lifesaver. That's what we spent Thanksgiving day doing.

Unpacking the Pod? 1 day. Soooo much easier to unpack than to pack. I could have taken up to a month with the Pod with no extra charge.

I took two days off work after the move to get Fios installed and unpack. Except for maybe three boxes, we were completely unpacked and setup in a week.

Re: If you went from an apt to a house how long was the moving process

it took 3 guys, my brother, DH and my FIL about 3 hours to load teh truck, furinture included. truck was at the house at about 4:30 and unloaded in about 30 minutes. we had more help at the house then the apt. bedroom was set up and we were just about completly unpacked within a week.

we had a newborn, so it kind of slows things down, unpacking wise.

Re: If you went from an apt to a house how long was the moving process

We closed December 13 last year and started painting that weekend. Then the week of Christmas we started packing up and moving things over. January 5 we hired movers and it took them a few hours to get the furniture done.

Re: If you went from an apt to a house how long was the moving process

K, we had the apt for an extra month so for a lot of that month we kept bringing clothes/boxes over & then the day of the move we made sure everything that was going over here was packed. Yet it still took 4.5 hours for them to load/unload boxes (they didn't set anything up when we got here). (We did have a lot of stuff in our storage area---we had a storage area the whole length of our 2nd floor apt--in a house. ie., school stuff, wedding stuff, junk, etc.)
