If you went to Disney with a baby....

Did you ship things like diapers, formula...ahead of time? How did that work out? I am thinking of doing that when we go with my 9 month old and 4 year old. What things did you ship ahead of time?

I ordered these things before hand from the grocery store that delivers, and it came within the couple hours of me being there...

I went twice to Disney with a baby and neither time did I ship anything. I just stopped at the grocery store while I was there and picked up what I needed in small quantities. But I should also add that both times we rented a car.

No I actually loaded my suitcase with all that garbage! Only thing we did was rent a double stroller(not from the parks). My girls were 9mths and 4yrs old when we went. We did the disney dining plan so I often gave the baby some table food off her big sister's plate.

We went on a family trip with my ILs, and my 4-year-old niece. SIL was ordering from one of the grocery services for breakfast and snacks, so we did order diapers. I brought a big tub of powder formula (from BJs) with us because the grocery service didn't have the right kind.

We never actually shipped anything from home.

I'm going next month, we're renting a car though and picking up stuff there as needed.

You can ship anything not perishable - I'm not sure I would send formula though. On our last trip DD#2 turned 1 on the trip. For us - I used fed ex ground - I got a medium sized box at uhaul - and pack it with diapers, swimmies, wipes, sanitizer wipes (for the room), take and toss cups and utensils, and disposable placemats for the counter service locations. I think the box was about 24 lbs - it cost me $18 and change. If you go to fed ex's site you can enter the size of the box and the weight and it will tell you how much it costs. I shipped it down on friday afternoon and it got there Wed night. Make sure you do NOT use USPS - they don't recognize the hotel address and then packages go straight to a central processing station and can get lost. When we got back to our room our luggage from ME was waiting along with the package I shipped. They will hold packages at the hotel for up to 7 days - so try to send it early in case it doesn't arrive so you can get another one down there or they can find yours.

Also - I used gardengrocer.com - they were fabulous. Make sure you place your order WAY in advance. But I used it for yobaby yogurt, juice boxes, cheerios, milk, bottled water, snacks for the parks and the room, puffs etc. It works like peapod. We had a window around when we would arrive at the hotel. They called us as we were getting off the ME bus - to tell us they left the food with bell services (who will keep everything cold in their fridge that needs to be kept cold).

Make sure you take advantage of the baby care centers in the parks (I think MK and EPCOTS are the best of the 4) - but they have family restrooms, nursing rooms, rockers, small rooms with high chairs and tvs and some toys - so you can feed the baby while the older one has something to do IF needed - but I mainly used them for the changing tables - they were clean actual tables with doctor's table paper - and they were always wiping them down - so I felt they were cleaner than the restrooms IF you have that option. Also if you forget anything - they sell - pedialyte, tylenol, motrin, baby sunscreen, formula (I think carnation but I never looked closely), gerber drinks and some baby food, diaper supplies etc.

Etd to say - in the past we always rented a car and did a grocery shop so we never shipped before - and I found that this trip it went so much smoother to ship and use garden grocer than it had to take the time to do the shop. Also it was cheaper to ship the box than to pay to bring an extra bag. (we flew jet blue and they give you 1 bag limit)

DS was 9 months when we went. We brought enough food to get through the traveling and then went to WalMart and loaded up when we got there.

We used diapers.com and gardengrocer.com. We did not rent a car. This was the best thing we could've done. Everything was waiting for us at check-in.

I packed diapers (I figured 5 a day!)...I figured that room would be good for souvenirs went we went back home!

and all else we used gardengrocer.com...It is just like our freshdirect! It was great! Everything was there when we got to our hotel! Def recommend!

We were on the dining plan..so it was mainly snacks, fruit, water, milk, cereal, etc to have in room before we headed out for the day!

I just packed a sleeve of diapers in the suitcase along with wipes...everything fit perfectly. No need to ship!
