If you were able to get a good picture of the SuperMoon the other night
I tried shooting in night mode and I guess since the moon was so bright all I could get was a giant glowing circle in the sky. Should I have been using a different filter? I have a UV one on there all the time.
Thanks!

It's very hard to shoot the moon and be in focus. The moon is a moving element and there is not enough light to shoot in a shutter priority.
You def need a tripod first.

I was using a monopod I guess I should have pulled out the tripod instead.

I was told that shooting the moon is a 2 pic process when you superpose both pics.

Re: If you were able to get a good picture of the SuperMoon the other night
I did a bunch of research and went to the beach to take photos. I had my tripod, my zoom lens, I knew that the best settings were supposed to be 1/60 shutter, f11, whitebalance set to tungsten (which I didn't have so I set it to flash).
Once I setup, that's when I realized that my remote shutter release battery was dead. Even with trying to keep completely still with the camera on the tripod, it wasn't enough. The pics were not crisp enough.
So don't feel bad! It's really hard to get a good one. I'm not a fan of the idea that if you have a good camera, you should be able to automatically get pro shots, but in this case I think a great zoom lens is important.
Check out this pic someone I know got, I could never do this with the equipment I have! http://www.flickr.com/photos/eyeshuttertothink/5543003693/

Thanks for all the input. Next time I'll do a little more research first.
